To make it possible to compare our lists between years, wouldn't that lock us into using the same (or at least very similar) criteria as previous years?

Bingo does use very similar critera every year, but every year people bitch in every direction about who is or is not on the list and it creates all kinds of false starts on the first poll.
So to avoid this Bingo makes this thread every year so people can complain in here, and he can add and remove prospects who would wind up in the bottom ten anyways and it keeps discussion on track for the main event.

Yeah to me the inclusion/exclusion of guys like Okhotyuk and Boltman doesn't mean much because they are either out, or will be last.
But a guy like Morton is interesting because I think he's a legit prospect, who will likely finish ahead of other younger prospects. So his inclusion is interesting to me, to see how he's viewed by the fan base on a relative basis.

I agree with Morton being included. He just has 1 year under his belt professionally.

We could have a Prospect Ranking Criteria poll!

That might switch around some of the ranking with prospects either coming in or going out. I think we should get going in mid July

Doing the rankings in reverse order would likely take care of that.

Thanks Bingo! Looking forward to learning more about the Flames prospects.
Criteria should be Calder eligibility.

I always look at it in terms of Calder eligibility. If you have strung multiple short stints in the pros, that probably indicates you are a tweener.

You could save time by skipping Round 1, which should be pretty much unanimous I would think

I'm voting Parekh as our first, second, third, fourth, and fifth best prospect.

It's always fun to see which posters need attention though.

It is not a list without Karnaukhov and Rafikov! Don't we still own their rights?
Okhotyiuk is an interesting case - played in the NHL before, Calgary owns the rights still (for sure - not actually sure about the two above, and they were tongue-in-cheek). I say if you own their rights, and they are eligible for the Calder, or are a recent College grad - then they should be included.
It is a long season. Typically the "Should they be included" bunch finish last anyway. You don't want to participate by then, just stop voting. I can understand if the voting carries into the season, but what else is there to do than argue about prospects, how Bennett sucked vs how Bennett was mistreated here, vs how good is Mark Jankowski.
Some of my favourite posts happen in these rankings as we see what a player is by someone accurately comparing him to a Joe Colbourne. I live for those posts, so please do not take them away from me!

And if you're the same age and haven't, that probably indicates that you are lousy (or European).
IMO, just go by age - I want to include and compare all the young players.

Keep the list simple and competitive.
Age 21 or under, anyone else would and should be far down the list anyway, guys like Stromgren, Kerins and Poirier are pro vets now.

If a trade is made for a prospect we can just do a vote at the end as to where they slot in and everyone below drops down 1 spot. Same if we trade a prospect during the rankings, we can just remove them and move everyone up 1 spot.
Boltmann - Out
Okhotyuk - Out
Cicek - Out
Morton - In
Josh Jooris Award - Lucas Ciona
