Swayman spent the first 2 minutes of his press conference talking about Johnny Gaudreau. Classy dude

What are you basing that on? Carey had 1 great season which was only 28 games for him because there were only 48 games in the season due to lockout. He declined every year after that 1st season.

Swayman has played 132 games and his lowest is better than Carey's highest.

How much lower would it be if corporations couldn't write off the events as marketing/entertaining ? 50%+ probably...

There's a reason entertainers get paid so well...we subsidize them.
Is there any reason why marketing to increase clients and revenue are not legitimate write offs?

The line can get blurry pretty fast. The last ~5 Flames games I've attended have been corporate seats and I certainly wasn't a client

Were you a late add? People cancel all the time. Including day of up to an 30 mins before the game.

It’s not like “writing it off” makes it free. Still multi thousand dollar nights for the companies (for some of them). They must see value. I certainly don’t understand it but take advantage.

Let's say that you attended because a client couldn't make it and gave the ticket to you. That's still a valid write off because there was value giving it to a client in the first place.

There is still huge value in hockey tickets for promotional purposes.

It takes very little in increased sales to make it worthwhile.

And only 50% of the amount of hockey tickets are deductible. So, the tax savings are about 25%.

A lot of that arena would be financed by debt which changes things.

I’m not sure I follow your logic on the corporate tickets. Corporations expense all kinds of things all the time, marketing expenses? Are we subsidizing Staples by allowing a company to claim a printer as a business expense?

In any case if either of your two examples were different ticket prices would be higher. Which I’m sure you would complain about as well.
