Have to say Frank Seravelli called this number on Flames Talk or Barnburner (not sure which I listen to both driving to and from work). Like spot on, he said 8.25 gets it done.

Finally got it done, but what a PR and employee relations disaster for the club.

I used to get uncomfortable giving goalies this much money, and especially for that long, because we've seen time and again a goalie have his level of performance be highly volatile, or just drop off the cliff entirely. However, Swayman is probably one of the safest bets on a younger goalie. This will likely be a very good value contract.

Signing a goaltender to an 8 year deal is pretty scary for sure but seeing he's only 25 he's still not in his prime it's not a bad gamble as it solidifies the position for a long time.

Bruins continue their goaltending streak of always having a good #1 there.

Swayman was the sole reason they had a legitimate chance at dismantling Florida, but they didn’t have the goal scoring needed to push through.

lol what a pointless holdout and back and forth.

Feels gross to say since he’s making generational wealth but Swayman caved.

I don't think Swayman caved at all, feels more like the Bruins caved as they didn't really want to pay more than $7.5M

Based on the market for goalies and his RFA status this was always going to be below $9 and probably $8.5M at the most

Why pointless, Bruins paid more than they wanted, and Swayman got a bit less than he was asking for.

Swaymen holding out got an extra $6M.

See Cam, you needed to give him 66 million reasons to show up!

Man do I suck at life...it will take me 20 years to make the money that was a petty difference....I should turn to crime.

I think it’s less you suck and more that their industry doesn’t reside in reality.

How much lower would wages in NHL be if teams had to pay for their own arena? $1b arena over 40 years...$25m a year. Assuming 60% to labour, cap would be 20% lower give or take.

How much lower would it be if corporations couldn't write off the events as marketing/entertaining ? 50%+ probably...

There's a reason entertainers get paid so well...we subsidize them.
