Barrie history with huska. From Jr. I think he has upside as trade bait in huska offense offensive d system

Barrie also seems like good teammate from accounts

Barrie in the same division as McDavid seems like a bad combo. Agree that he'd be a welcome addition on the PP but he's not the smartest or quickest on the ice. Sure it helps lower our standings but I also don't want him leaving Wolf to dry.

Yup, this is a pretty solid add given the Flames circumstances. He'll put up points, he'll help his teammates and he'll return an asset to the Flames when all he costs is money (and not a whole lot of it either given he's coming in on PTO). Good job, Conroy!

Barrie could totally become a TDL trade chip with the PP time the Flames could grant him.

I won't root against him, but I will be surprised if he gets a contract in Calgary. He has been a healthy scratch in Nashville. Maybe he was simply a poor fit there, but I do wonder if he has lost a step and his offensive game no longer makes up for his defensive game. Definitely a guy to watch out for, but I will be surprised if he ends up signed in Calgary.

My thoughts as well.

I also don't think he will sign here, unless we make a move moving a D out.

Flames D that require waivers(8*): Andersson, Weegar, Miromanov, Bahl, Bean, Pachal, Solovyov, Hanley.

*Also there's Aspirot who's AHL bound; and Okhotiuk that signed in the KHL, and will likely stay there.

I don't think that Barrie beats any of the top 7D, because a tie will go to a younger player. Hanley is a possibility, but that's essentially the battle for popcorn munching in the press box.

Personally I'm hoping that one of the younger D forces the team's hand out of camp: Parekh, Brzustewicz, Poirier, Grushnikov, Jurmo, or Kuznetsov.

I like this idea!

First, Barrie's competing with Pachal. So, its not like a prospect, who I'd like to see playing in the NHL, isn't getting a chance because of this.

Second, Barrie's a pump and dump candidate if the Flames sign him.

I don’t get the reference.

If the Flames do want to pump up Andersson's value for a trade playing him with Weegar is probably the best way to do that.

"stop trying to me fetch happen"

They've never been lights out together.

Don’t need him . There are 6 guys on contract already better than him. Add in players in ahl that are dam close if not ready to make the jump. I get the whole build up trade value for deadline theory but I highly doubt that Barrie would fetch much even as a pp specialist.

I think Parekh could already give him a run for a job but I expect they'll send him down for further development.

Maybe a good trade-bait for later when teams need a right shot D-man for depth.

Lol the Flames could drop a nickel above the minimum nhl salary and have them beat.

If they could even afford to table that.

Decent add especially if there's injuries. Best case scenario, gets us a 3rd at the deadline.

I'm thinking Pachal ahead of Hanley.
