How can you have betting in sports when you have inconsistent reffing like this? I don't bet but it adds so much randomness to games.

Flyers controlled the play for the final 40 minutes, it wasn't really close outside of Markstrom being stellar. Found the game enjoyable to watch.

Awesome to see Huby score THAT goal.

It's an important loss, and a huge two points avoided.

Even if it was a penalty are they allowed to call off the goal? No Flame player touched the puck after it happened.

...maybe there shouldn't be betting in sports? Seeing as gambling is stupid, and sports are great.

I thought Zary tipped it

When you're on the powerplay for most of that time its a lot easier.

Crappy reffing but also crappy discipline.

They wasted an outstanding performance from Markstrom.

If ever there was a game where the Flames could come out and demand answers for the officiating, that was it.

The Lindholm call wasn't even a penalty, let alone 4 minutes. The Weegar "hook" was a joke. The Zary penalty for a shove that negated a goal. I don't think a single one of those is defensible, let alone three in one game that determined the outcome.

The Flames will say nothing and continue to be treated like a second class team.

Our coaching is just plain bad. Huska can't make an adjustment to save his life, even simple things like changing his lines up is a monumental undertaking for him. Savard is not an NHL quality coach and should never have been hired.

It's not just that the Flames cheap out on coaches, it's that when it's clearly not working they won't admit they made a mistake. Savard is the most clear example if this you could have.

It’s not just the missed calls, which favoured the Flyers but went both ways. It was the ticky-tack “game management” calls that the NHL swears aren’t a thing! That was the worst refereed game in recent memory!

I’d like one of those NHL suspension explanation videos on that whole Lindholm play. Elbowing is questionable at best, but okay. Roughing? He got punched and dropped his gloves. Then they wrestled. I’ve seen roughing or 4 minutes called for bigger “fights” than that.

So now the bad reffing is the coach's fault too?

We were worried expansion was going to water down player talent

Instead, we are left with a shallow referee pool which isn’t up to par

Players are ok, need to find better refs. Go overseas if need be, just like do with players.

Just horrible, and has been for some time.

Refs let that game get out of hand.

Worst officiated league in sports.

I miss Iginla, would have been nice to see him lay a beatdown on Laughton.

When the Flames beat the Flyers days ago I assume that was due to superior coaching as much as coaching was the issue in this game?

Scrappy game but officiating was awful. Flyers outplayed the flames but the flames could have easily come away with the win of it wasn't for the refs.

Can't have bad coaching and bad reffing in the same game? You think the PP is well coached.

If the Flames had a legit coach he it out there losing it on the refs and sometimes that helps.

Fun game to watch. Too many penalties. Killed the momentum.

Onwards to crush the Bedardless Hawks (hopefully).

The powerplay looking bad could something to do with the talent on the ice. People don't like to hear it, but when Ruzicka is on the powerplay...

I thought the call on Lindholm was outrageously bad.

9 minutes? 5 minutes for fighting? His gloves didn't come off and he didn't throw a single punch - he got punched a bunch, and wrestled the guy to the ground. That's roughing for him at best. He should have thrown the gloves off and fought back though. Flames got penalties for routine hits that went wrong because the Flyers' players bailed at the last second, putting themselves in harm.

How did Konecny not get a penalty after he stood up in the crease and cross-checked someone hard. Then Zary gets a cross-check for that, while forcing the goal to be called-back?

I don't usually complain about refereeing, but that's some terrible calls.

However, that's some poor pushback by the Flames this game. Desaulniers is the only legitimate tough guy on that side, and it certainly felt like the Flames wilted a little after the Flyers decided to get a bit nasty. just seemed to take the wind out of their sails a little - except for Huberdeau at the end. Good on him! Loved the goal he scored, and I loved the emotion he showed this afternoon.

Also, if this is the Flyers' rebuild, enjoy staying in mediocrity for another decade. Doesn't look like they have top-end talent there. Flames are a team that is playing well, but need to rebuild, and the Flyers needed the stripes to give them the game.
