At what point do top prospects stop reporting in Arizona? I know if I am Bedard - I would have zero interest playing in Arizona.
I dislike when players are entitled but in this case, Arizona is a tire fire with zero future.

I think the only way they can get out of this is if they literally hit on almost all of these picks. Then they might have a short window before they have to pay these guys. Or if they accidentally trade for one of these cap dumps that are making less actual money than their cap hit and then that player comes back and has a career resurgence.

Arizona really is the development team for other NHL teams. Acquire as many picks as possible, develop players for a couple of years, and then trade them away again for picks. Rinse and repeat. Do they even have any actual aspirations on winning anything other than draft lotteries?

Gillies is already 29?
The pandemic has seriously skewed my internal chronology.

Arizona is waiting until they can draft a generational talent to build round. This might be their year.

a billion picks is nice but at some point it's redundant...you only have so many roster spots and so much cap space. Its bad for the players too, they don't have the resources to develop all these guys...players will get lost in the shuffle

What a great idea. Continuously suck until a generational talent comes along and hope you win the lottery. If you don't, repeat and recycle.

Lol. Already 4 2nd rounders in 2024, with so much time to amass more! What's the record for most picks by a team in a single round?

Until a new arena plan moves forward, there is ZERO point to move forward from the current plan

Whatever you need to tell yourself. They’re still an NHL team and whether they’re going to be moved somewhere else or not, it shouldn’t be too much to expect that they be run like one.

They now have basically the same amount being paid to injured guys and retained salary then they do to all their forwards combined.
Patrick Kane is their 6th highest salary among active players.

haha of course they went and got another player who's not going to play again. The fact that there's a franchise in this league which primarily serves as a dumpster for other teams' unwanted contracts is beyond a joke, but hey, as long as the league is cool with it ...

Yeah, ok but wtf do you expect the team owners to do until we know one way or another what the arena deal will end up being?
For now? It's save money as much as you can. There's more at stake than wins and losses on the standings

What is the point of the Coyotes? Do they just exist to take on bad contracts and facilitate trades for the other 31 teams? They play in an embarrassing stadium, haven't been successful in a decade, they are truly an embarrassment to the league.

Their IR and dead cap is a really good 2010-15 lineup.
