In 1997 I didn't have a cellphone yet, I could pay with Guldens instead of Euro's and I had to get the NHL scores from CNN Sports.

$40/month Internet - not so insane. 32" Sony deadweight - that's more than insane!

that was the top of the line TV back then. No flat screens or high res projectors yet.

back then dial up was $5 to $14.99/month.

I think he'll probably get in, although not convinced he should- I think its mostly the longevity , maybe only the longevity and the GP record that gets him there. 3 times in an all star game interestingly has been done by a few HOFers (Joey Mullen, Steve Shutt, Rogie Vachon- with others like Bergeron and Getzlaf to follow) but is the territory of guys like James Neal, Brian Sutter, Eric Desjardins, Danny Grant, the DION, Rick MacLeish, Shayne Corson, Tom Lysiak etc- more good than great players- although to be fair once you have been in 3 AS games you are at least pretty good)

his best season end showing was 4th in LW allstar voting one year- that feels about right. once in his 25 year career he was the 4th best player at his position

in baseball terms he strikes me more as an Omar Vizquel or Rusty Staub (*although I realize although they both played an enormous amount of games they aren't actually the GP record holder

1st all time in games played, 50th in total points and 23rd in goals. I think he gets in.

I think he's has the highest goal total of anyone not in the hall (not counting other active/ineligible players). Keith Tkachuk next highest

for points ahead of him, not in, are Pierre Turgeon, Bernie Nicholls, Vincent Damphousse and Jeremy Roenick

None of them really have the same international resume though.

Being its the Hockey HOF and not the NHL HOF, i think he gets in pretty easy.

We Canadians tend to under value international play i think.
