Like Adam Silver said a couple weeks ago, covid is never going away. Makes no sense to continue shutting sports/businesses down. Gotta learn to live with it. I have read of very few, if any players who've suffered severe symptoms this season unlike last season. Seems everyone is either asymptomatic or experiencing incredibly minor symptoms.

My sister and dad are both currently positive for covid and they're basically just normal healthy people being forced to stay inside, despite the vaccinations clearly working for them.

Just stop testing asymptomatic players across all leagues.
This is they it will have to go if Leagues/Tournaments want to to get through this. Right or wrong pretty much no way around it.

NFL is getting both praise and a bad rap for it but it will get their Season done without a stoppage.

I think everything happened too fast.

What you are saying will be policy a month from now, but IIHF can't work around what are Alberta rules right now.

What a dumb move by the IIHF to not have it in a bubble again. It's a two week tournament. It's not like trying to have a full 82 game season or even a half a season in one arena.

Just awful. It’s my favourite holiday tradition.

Having a bunch of kids get covid and then send them back home just isn’t responsible.

The organizers really needed to take it more seriously than they did.

I agree.

Seems leagues are starting to adapt (thank you NFLPA for getting it started), but happened too fast with the World Juniors.

Hopefully it gets rescheduled for the summer because it's a shame that these young kids are missing out on what is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most of them because of horrible planning and dumb protocols.

Well, this sucks. I got the COVID a couple of days ago, so there's nothing else to do than watch sports, especially hockey. Sucks to see that the Flames-games are still being postponed, and now this.

In my point of view, it now sucks to see my favourite Finland Elite League's players to go there for nothing, and at the same time the team I support, keeps losing because of the absentees like Slafkovsky, Viro, Rafkin and Väisänen...

I mean, it was great to see that many get into the tournament, but all for nothing. And, of course the same thing for the rest of the players around the world. And knowing that it could have been organized better...

Don’t derail the thread, there’s a COVID forum for this

When are we going to move on? Honestly. The vaccine is clearly working. Most vaccinated people who get covid have mild (if any) symptoms. How much longer are we going to let them make our lives miserable? It's been almost two years with no sports, no travel, no live music.. those are like the top 3 things I live for and there's no end in sight. Getting harder and harder to get out of bed every day.

I’m sad. I look forward to this event and prefer it to NHL hockey, to be honest.

Ya it looks like they took very little precautions. Would have been better to rent a small hotel for all the teams.

If this tournament had happened in October, this all would have been a non-issue.

Omicron has quickly changed the nature of holding events like these, and the necessary protocols that are needed. Too bad for those involved.

Yup. Given the reality of the situation (public health rules), there is zero excuse for not having this tournament in a bubble.

Just another depressing story for those of us who really enjoy watching this tournament, much less the players.

They ended up with too many forfeits because they couldn’t be bothered to take a few extra steps. They could have pretty easily done a bubble.

I’m seeing people saying this should be held in Florida “where we live life.” FFS.
