For me, Monahan was the best thing to happen to this franchise between 2010 and 2013/14. With Iginla and Bouwmeester getting shipped off, Cammalleri past his prime, and Kipper retiring, Monahan was the only real bright light. Came in as a rookie, made the team, and started contributing immediately.
He also still leads the entire 2013 NHL draft class in goals scored. And if you’re going to pin playoff success on a single player, he has the same number of series wins as the first overall pick that year, Nathan McKinnon.
