He's ballooned up to over 300 lbs and has spent the entire season drinking with pals. Why would anyone sign him? Especially if the cap becomes an albatross for every team due to the pandemic. Can't think of a worse signing right about now.

No. He was already suspended without pay for this season, so he carried no cap hit for 2019-20. If he had returned mid-season, there would have been cap implications, but he didn't.

With mutual termination, the contract is now over. It wasn't a buyout, so the Jets don't owe him anything more. The contract wasn't subject to any cap-recapture penalties and it wasn't a 35+ contract. Those are the only scenarios I can think of where a player who has had his contract terminated would still carry a cap hit.
