How this wasnt a 5 min major is beyond me. Pavelski got a 5 min major cal in his favor for flopping last year, Phaneuf once got a major because Dan Cleary fell down. What a joke

He's a repeat offender. He'll get a game.

I was also confused as to why it wasn’t a 5 min major. I suspected they wanted to call a 5 min but the higher ups didn’t want to “tarnish” the outdoor game with a major penalty.

I'm positive it was originally 5 and for whatever reason the official(s) changed their mind. I'll have to go back and see if the announcement at the end of the 2nd made it to TV.

In the stadium it was put up as 2 right away I'm pretty sure.

Happy to see the two game suspension though, just a dirty play that was completely unnecessary.

I just remember staring at the screen while he was talking and reading his lips say 5 minute major. Maybe I just saw what I wanted to see lol

While I'm happy there was supplemental discipline, this is in infuriating as a Flames fan, as if he was given the CORRECT call of 5 minutes, the Flames would have had 5 solid minutes on the PP, and their PP was playing VERY well that night.

So the NHL doubly screws over the Flames. Not only didn't they benefit from a 5 minute PP, but now Lowry is suspended for 2 games against 2 division rivals - Ducks and Sharks. Completely unfair.

That Monahan reaction reminded me of the Tom Erixon thing against Philly a few years ago. Not a good look.

You mean where he fell and hit his head on the ice causing a small pool of blood to immediately appear? That flop?

Realistically, it was likely a five and a game on Lowry - but that is on it's own merits, not because of blown calls in the past.

Is anybody surprised? As much as I love the guy, he's as soft as puppy poo.

See, this is where the NHL needs to hold the officials accountable. Fine them two games pay for blowing such an obvious call.

I guess the question that should be asked, does a player like that deserve a letter?

^ Yes. Because I just got his jersey for the HC and it has the A on it. I'm not paying to get that removed.

Honestly, I don't think so. Watching Gio spear Clifford against LA during the Doughty/Tkachuk skirmish, that's the kind of guy you want leading your team. Backlund and Chucky are always involved in that stuff as well.

Monahan, has he ever gotten angry once? That was the perfect opportunity to stick up for your teammate and show some emotion and he just stands there. Ridiculous.
