If I get a job before boxing day (which is looking good) I will likely be looking for a TV on boxing day. Will be watching what you guys say about sales and such for this year!

Taking a while to get to 5000

Love my Surface, though its just the i5/128GB SSD/4GB. Highly recommend it but would suggest going for the 256GB/8GB if you can

Mostly for Lightroom/Photoshop while travelling. Maybe a bit of video editing.

in my opinion this changes things. media editing and encoding is really CPU intensive, so you may be one of those cases that benefits from the beefier processor. I find whenever I do photo and video stuff, it can peg the CPU at 100% for extended periods.

Seems pricey for the Instant Pot - unless this is like, something else you're talking about.
Anyway, aren't they usually $80?

Kind of my thoughts when I bought the desktop. I like the $1000 price tag a lot more than the fully spec'ed $2500 model though.

I'm looking for a laptop with dedicated ram for the video card, at least 2GB. Is Best Buy my best bet for a boxing day deal for that?

It's the ultra model. It has some extra features and a fancier more user friendly display.

Keep an eye on Redflagdeals. Dell, Microsoft, Staples, etc, are likely to have some on sale too.
Few flyers are up there already (BestBuy, Staples, Walmart) so you can start to see whats going to be out there

Two laptops I've found that are going to be around my $1000 price range. They seem to be the two best options I've seen. So... which?
Lenovo YOGA 710 15.6" Touch / I5-7200U / 8GB / 256GB SSD
https://www.visions.ca/catalogue/cat...sku=80V50010US
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Intel Core i5-6300 8GB RAM 256GB SSD with Black Keyboard
https://www.visions.ca/catalogue/cat...&sku=GLK-00001
Both have their perks. The Surface has high resolution and is a better tablet; the Yoga is a better laptop with a larger screen. Guess I'm wondering if the processor is going to make a huge difference being 7th or 6th generation. Or 8th - the other thing I have that I could waffle over to is the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 (8th gen i7-8550U, 12GB, 128gb SSD + 1TB HDD), but it's more of a real laptop, being twice as thick and heavy as the surface. But I think I might weigh the portability aspect higher.

I have a Surface Pro 4 (i5/4GB/128GB + 128GB microSD). After owning various laptops over 20 years the Surface is absolutely the only way to go now.

Got the Surface from visions and then got a 128gb microsd to throw into it for some additional storage. Only gripe is it didn't come with the pen.

Two things:
I just learned that Boxing Day in a smaller town is awesome. We hit up Marks in Cochrane this morning, and there was next to nobody in the store. The Canadian Tire was pretty quiet too.
Made out awesome at Marks, they had a ton of really nice heavy knit sweaters for 60% off. They all came out to 20-30 bucks. Not glamorous brands. Denver Hayes, Far West. etc..... but anything I have bought at Marks tends to last forever.

I have never seen Superstore this eerily quiet before even on a normal weekday at closing. That is what happens when your sales are poor rehashes of Black Friday. I came here to buy eggs
