There was no room for Granlund and it made sense to trade equivalent prospects from an area of strength to address an area of weakness. Add in that Shinkaruk had extra waiver exemption and that made it make more sense.

Maybe we should claim him. We need a 6D.

Nope. I'll never forgive him for his cheap shot on Gaudreau at the Penticton tourney a few years back.

Good riddance to spooner. Not impressed with his game when it matter most in his career.

Poirier should be safe here - he knows what he needs to do now, didn't look terrible last night but you can tell he needs to rebound here. Have a good year in the AHL and go from
there.

Would be funny to see him playing alongside Granlund in Vancouver on Thursday.

There were too many centers to keep Granlund around. He was bred at the position, so didn't seem like there was an appetite to shoehorn him into the wing. Even in Vancouver.

He's scoring some goals for the Canucks and good for him on doing it, but he never was an impact player here and despite his increased production, he hasn't helped elevate the Canucks in any significant way either.

Shinkaruk was good in that little look he got over a season back. Maybe he could've made a spot for himself if he got more time up with the team. The past two camps he hasn't set himself apart though which is unfortunate, and it was hard to justify putting him in over other guys that looked better.

Hopefully you're not serious. He wasn't good enough to play on the Leafs' defense and wasn't even looked at when the Pens were depleted at the back end during their cup run.

looks like the answer to #6 and #7d is Bartkowski and Kulak based on this

edit: forgot about Andersson who could still be in the mix

Kinda done with Wotherspoon - the Flames were decent enough to him; he pouted way too much and when his spot was finally there for him to win he played pretty terribly. Move on, nothing to see here.

We should have just molded Granlund into a RW.

Hindsight, I guess.

Kinda what I'm feeling too but in the same breath knowing Treliving I'm sure that point was considered/looked at and it made sense to cut him loose.

If they are keeping 8D up for now, I guess this means Andersson is sticking around?

Have to think that's it for Spoon in the Flames organization. Too many D-Men have leapfrogged over him

I'll always like Granlund, but being traded was the best thing that happened to him (Baertchi too). He's the beneficiary of some lean cupboards on a bad team. Does anyone thing he'd be able to break into this lineup as anything better than 13th forward?
