Same thing that happened to us? One bad year doesn't mean all their players are crap.

I think 80 pts for McJ is asking a lot on that team.

So 3 proven players and 3 that have proven nothing?

Just pointing out they have a very solid foundation, both on the team and with their prospects. Just as solid as Calgary imo. If all the Jets players besides Laine are unremarkable, I don't see how you can't say the same about Calgary re: Gaudreau. It's not like Bennett or Tkachuk have proven much but I doubt the original poster has a problem with them.

Of note of interest is Francis's picks. Lots of love for the Jets and Oilers, nothing for the Flames. Big surprise there.
I know I'm risking being the defender of Francis, but what do you want from columnists that cover the Flames - just homer POVs? Isn't that what Edmonton has that we constantly belittle?
There isn't a single question in the predictions that I would have answered with a Flames player or the team.
I don't think that is unreasonable?
Just trying to understand the mindset - not trying to be argumentative.

I don't expect him to have a homer POV but I would like his logic on how he thinks the Jets are going to be better than the Flames. If he was a columnist who was positive about the team he covers I would not have noticed as much but given how Francis has a long history of writing non positive things about the Flames it jumps out a bit more to me.

That's fair
But I would argue that the Flames have a long history of non positive things.
So in some ways the negative coverage is driven by that.

I do agree the Jets are a bit of the flavor of the month - I don't see them being better than the Flames.
