I'd love Brad to make a claim for Parenteau. He's like Hudler but taller.

The off wing thing is irrelevant, they aren't going to pick up a waiver to replace Gaudreau for a handful of games.

You should look at our RWs again. Brouwer, Frolik, then a black hole of no good.

Paranteau is 33 and has 42 goals in the last three years. Are people really wanting Brad to pick this guy up?

You're the one who brought up the off wing thing...

And the reason I was worried is because him coming in would probably signal that Gaudreau signing with the Flames isn't happening anytime soon. I don't see them entertaining this otherwise, just my opinion.

$1.25 mil one year deal RW. 33 years old

Some insight as to why the Isles are waiving him:
Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
#Isles signed Parenteau in hopes of rekindling magic with JT. Only played last night together but org clearly feels better options on roster
Another reason why they are waiving him. Don't want to lose a young c

The next obvious cut would be forward Alan Quine. The problem is he would have to clear waivers, and the 23-year-old has proved to be a pretty solid player. In just 12 regular season and playoff games, he has two goals and six points. It would be a real shame to lose him on the waiver wire.

Correction: he has 42 in his last 188 games. On average, that's roughly 18 goals per 82 games, a pretty fine average.

Not going to cry if he doesn't but I wouldn't mind it. Parenteau is a super cheap option that had 40 points and 20 goals just last year. We have a gaping black hole on our right side that he could fill for one year. If he busts out he busts out but it's worth a try.

Your point about the wing positions being fluid is something I agree with but I'd prefer guys play the side they're used to before shuffling.

Gaudreau having a contract still leaves our right side wind open.

Some whispers out of Vancouver that Burrows might be placed on waivers.

Pretty mediocre when that's all you're good at. I just don't think this team needs soft players that score at a very modest rate. Just sign Gaudreau and the offense will be fine.

I like the makeup of the team better without him on it. Perhaps 'no good' was a stretch.

So you prefer big tough players who score at a less than modest rate?

That's a disgusting cap hit of 4.5M no way he would get claimed.

I meant as an effort replace his offence should things drag on. Pepsi Free was the one who brought up the off wing thing.

I just don't see how he would keep up on the top line. I would rather we save that 1.25M for cap space and see if we can't find a fit for the top line internally.

Agreed, he is simply to slow. Sure he has scored in the past, question is will he continue.

I would pass on claiming this player

I imagine those whispers are from Canuck fans wishful thinking. I highly doubt that happens because:

a) Benning thinks he has built a team that will be in the playoffs. That leads to point b.

b) Benning is an idiot.
