Pick one, any are weak, yet sufficient reasons:
35lbs less physically developed at draft, meaning more room to grow and apply that onto the ice.
Slightly better draft+1 year point totals while being younger.
Riley Bruce shoots right, giving him a better shot at slotting next to a Jokipakka, Kulak, Ollas-Mattsson, Wotherspoon, Hickey, Kylington, Falkovsky etc by default.
Because I have already given up on Kanzig, Bruce still has another season before I write him off.
Because's he wore a letter as an 18 year old. Kanzig didn't wear a letter until he was an overager.
Because I trust our OHL scouts in 2015 more than our WHL scouts in 2013
Because why not. Both are long shots. One's just further along and wasting a contract spot.
EDIT: Oh yeah, one more reason, and this might actually be the main reason I have Bruce ahead of Kanzig - maybe I'm remembering wrong but Bruce was pretty unnoticeable at Young Stars 2015. Kanzig was noticible for all the WRONG reasons.
