Oh yes, I am very excited for that one. I was in on the Kickstarter on day one! I know it's basically Banjo-Threeie, but I still wouldn't mind a true re-visit to that IP by a big AAA studio.
Love the dig they make at Nuts & Bolts at the end of that trailer.
Pretty interesting they called it Bravely Default and never referred to it as Final Fantasy on any packaging, marketing, or in the game itself then.
Maybe it started out as a sequel to that game but at some point the direction changed to an original IP. Why would you call something 'Bravely Default' instead of tacking on an extremely popular franchise brand, if that's what you intended it to be?
Basically what you said. The producer of the sequel decided he wanted to change direction a little. It was originally supposed to be an ARPG, but he decided he wanted to create a "new IP" that just so happened to be Final Fantasy in everything but name. It always gets lumped into the FF universe because it is still, ultimately, a spin-off.
Incidentally, World of FF is supposedly over 100 hours long. That seems a little absurd for a game primarily aimed at younger audiences.

Also, Horizon got announced for February 28th.
I just saw that you posted the trailer in the video game thread. Ah well, luckily my kids ensure I only get to play 2 or 3 games a year anyways.

Geez, that is long. Maybe it's the "100 hours... if you do every sidequest and max level your characters and beat all the optional bosses".
Between XV and this, and then the XII remaster and VII remake (hopefully) next year, us series fans have a lot to look forward to in the next little while.
World of Final Fantasy out Oct. 25, 2016 in North America. New trailer:
Spoiler!
Yes, I am a 27-year old husband and father, who will be playing this game.

I guess I will if everyone says it's amazing, but... really?
And no, the Bravely Default style did not resemble that at all.

Interested in hardware info. I want to pick up a PS4 at some point but will wait to see if the rumored 4k version is coming out. Also curious to see where Xbox's overall strategy is going and whether they join the VR race. Interesting times.

Yeah. XV, VIIR part 1, WoFF and XII remaster all inside a year. My backlog is already so big that I should just trade in games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. I will never play it.

Well, okay, maybe I just don't get the meaning of the category, but this:
Looks pretty different from this.

Ok, well if that's what it means, I guess I don't necessarily mind it if it's executed well. I guess FF9 was Chibi styled, then? No problem with that game's art. But that square bobblehead thing up there just seems like it will destroy the game experience for anyone over 12 years old.

Ive been wanting this too. Dabbled with it last gen but didn't get to play too much, but it was so good I've always wanted to play it again. I think I want this more than any newer current gen game.

I'm sure that remastered Skyrim will be nice for console folks, but I can't image there's much of a change on PC (other than some graphical updates will be included, instead of relying on mods for).
I'm hoping for;
- Mass Effect
- Bioware Single Players Star Wars RPG
- Rockstar game reveal
- More Shenmue information

I'd be disappointed if they only upgraded graphics since there's infinite mods for that. If they can improve the combat and physics it'll be worth buying again IMO, its still my favorite RPG (Witcher came close but not nearly as replayable)
Other than that I'm always excited for Rockstar news, Skate 4 would be nice (PC as well plz) and hoping for some interesting new IPs

I never Finished the game my 360 stopped reading the disc and its unplayable on my ps3
Maybe people don't remember, but Prey 2 looked so, so awesome when it was first shown 5 years ago. Being some badass intergalactic bounty hunter.
I was genuinely disappointed when it vanished. I feel like that game being "re-announced" or whatever you want to call it could end up being the best surprise of the show.
