Yah, I thought he delivered good results, good style of play on ice and very entertaining in the media. Also our first playoff series win in over a decade. I know lots didn't love him, but it will be tough for Hartley and the Flames I think not to look back at his tenure and call it successful.
Thanks Hartley!

This firing stings in the emotions of the fans but it hurts DQ even more, there goes the ice cream cake sales.

I Bob reads this thread (and not the other ones )
Thank you for the memories Bob. I think you were a huge part of developing Johnny, Mony and Bennett, and that will extremely important to the Flames for years and years. 2014-2015 was such a fun year as a fan. The brawl with the Canucks is etched in my mind (In a good way).
Bob handled himself with class throughout and I wish him nothing but the best. I think he understands the business well enough that coaches are hired to be fired.

Best of luck in the future to him. Wish him all the success in the world. Not often you say that about a recently deposed coach.

Bob was great and instilled a lot of work ethic and no surrender into the team. I am shocked by this decision as I thought he did a remarkable job as evidenced by his Jack Adams award. I think he will easily find another job in the NHL.
Maybe he can also get the feaster bunny employed as well to return the favour.

Not only was the playoff season exciting, the year before that in the 2nd half after the brawl in Vancouver was pretty good as well.
He did well by the Flames.

He's been my favourite Flames coach in a long time. I hate watching boring hockey and he kept me entertained and emotional, for good or bad.
I'm disappointed by his premature departure for sure.

I'm a fan of Hartley the person, and I have mixed, but veering towards positive feelings on Bob Hartley the coach. I would truly have liked to see what Hartley's style of play could do with a stronger, faster, smarter, more experienced contending Flames roster. His style probably wasn't right for such a young team that needed more "forced" structure... the players that truly seemed to "get" Hartley's system were all holdovers from multiple previous regimes (Backlund and Giordano) which tells me that good players need to develop under multiple different coaches historically, it's never their first coach that takes them all the way but that doesn't mean it was the first coach's fault.
I would welcome Bob Back with open arms in the future, maybe once this same core group has matured under different coaches. 'Til then, best of luck Bob.
