Default Ducks fire Boudreau

So Anaheim gets worse now? Little steps to breaking the "Honda Center Curse".

Don't they have a ton of expensive RFA's coming up too.

This might be the start of a forced rebuild.

The great thing to look at in all those game 7's is the goaltending numbers -

Hasn't really had the goaltending luck on his side in those game 7s and has faced some pretty strong goalies in each of those games. I would have no issue if it was announced that Boudreau was head coach in Calgary - the guys lack of playoff success has pretty much come down to not getting the breaks in game 7.

I'm curious if this leaves Paul Maclean as the interim head coach.

There's no way McLellan is gone next year. That's ridiculous.

I'd take him over Hartley, in a second.

The Flames right now would love to have an annual 100 point team regardless of his playoff results but I believe Ottawa has been waiting for him and I would expect them to announce his hiring next week unless Boudreau wants to take his time and pick his spot.

Game 7 record(s) aside, he has his teams in the playoffs 8 of the past 9 seasons and Darren Haynes tweeted something along the lines of him coaching the top power play and penalty kill this past season. Won't be just Ottawa and Minnesota looking at him.

Perfect. Like I said in the other thread, you can't blame players not getting up for a game 7 on the coach. If everything he did was working up until Game 7 and the players #### the bed, it's not his fault.

We should be all over this. I doubt we will be though.

Not sure why the Ducks would do this, they only get better if they can replace him with someone better and I'm not sure there is another candidate out there who could improve the team. Pretty short sighted in my opinion.

Like I also said in the other thread, it's seven game 7's. Seven of them he's failed to win. With two completely different rosters.

The Ducks would have kept him if they thought as you do.

I'm actually ok if Calgary gets Boudreau though. Why not give it a shot? He's a great regular season coach. Plus, he knows all of Anaheim's secrets.

Interesting that his goaltenders have crapped the bed for him. SV% can be a team stat but a goaltender standing on his head can make up for that but it appears that's not been the case for his teams while the opposing teams goaltenders more than not have had very good days. Still the coach has to take some of the blame here.

Still though he's proven that he will get his team to the playoffs every season and his teams have very good regular seasons. That's half the battle in today's NHL. Nice to have that almost guaranteed.

At what point does it become players responsibility to show up? What can Boudreau say to the team to get them to show up for an elimination game? It's not like he's telling them to relax and they'll be into off-season starting the next day.

What more could he have done to get couple more goals out of his guys the other night?

It's not like they lost in the first round all 7 times. I don't see anything wrong with his playoff record. If you're going to lose, Game 7 means you took it to the limit. Like what can he do differently?

Boudreau likes to yell at his players so maybe he really lays into them before each Game 7. Just has the opposite effect of what he wants.

Also has 8 division titles in his 8 full seasons as head coach (not counting the year he was fired in Washington or hired in Anaheim).

The .659 winning percentage that is 200 games above .500 is quite impressive as well.

He could win Game 6, considering Anaheim has been up 3-2 and still been booted from the playoffs by losing Game 6 AND Game 7 in those series ever since he's been in Anaheim.
