The Blackhawks last castoff, Brandon Saad, hasn't skipped a beat -- wrapping up a 30 goal season in Columbus. Wish the Flames were in the mix there, here's to them being in the mix for Shaw.

First rookie to reach 30 goals since 2011.

In 9th with 77 points tied with Kuznetsov. Unless Ovechkin goes crazy today, currently at 71 points. Bonus earned.

The bonus splits out forwards and defencemen, so you can take Karlsson out and he's actually tied for 8th.

Kuznetsov could bump him back to 9th with a single point, but at least two of Ovechkin, Backstrom, or Tavares would have to put up 8+ points to bump him out of the top 10.

Also, it's a good thing the Flames have cap space because Johnny should be getting a nice bonus himself for finishing 5th in forward points (Kuznetsov could pass him with 2 points today).

I'd just like to take this opportunity to bitch and moan about the new NHL.com again.

Thought I'd go look at the final stats of the year, but they made it so terrible, I just can't. ESPN it is.

Saad wasn't dumped because the 'Hawks WANTED to dump him...he seems to have just followed his agent's advice.

Kruger, was in the same situation (though not as heavily coveted), did NOT file for RFA, took what the 'Hawks could afford at the time on a 1 year contract, and got rewarded with an extension, when the 'Hawks DID free up cash.

Many 'Hawk fans anticipate that Shaw may get a similar offer, if he is willing.

Darling is only $600k for next year, 'Hawks wouldn't gain much from moving HIM...(anyway, it will be interesting to see how pad size changes affect Crawford and Darling (and other big goalies)).

Bickell's albatross contract will come off the books in time to offer a raise to Panarin.

This year, aside from Shaw, Ladd, Panik, Weise, Rasmussen, Fleischmann, Mashinter, Rozival, Erhoff, Tikonov's, Secac's $450k each, and Danault's $150k, all come off the books...Shaw, Panik, and Ras will be RFAs

BTW...good for the 'Hawks...letting Panarin earn the bonuses, even if the team has to shuffle some contracts.

What happens if the Hawks trade Panarin in the offseason? Does the cap hit for the bonus apply to Chicago for 16/17, or the acquiring team?

Not that I think they will, or should, trade Panarin. I am just wondering if that is even a viable option for Chicago.

It would still count against the Hawks in that scenario.
