I liken the Bieksa performance in the playoffs this year to Hatcher vs the Flames in 2004.

Father time catching up. Isn't a top 3 guy anymore, but can be very effective if his matchups are managed. Bieksa still has a fair bit of his career left, but it isn't at the icetime he is used to seeing.

he would be much more valuable to a team in the East, plus his family is back there so he would hopefully be more likely to accept

Kevin Bieksa's agent tells me that the #Canucks have not asked him to waive his no-trade clause. Wouldn't comment when asked if Bieksa would

Dan Murphy @sportsnetmurph
If the #canucks have told Bieksa they want him to move on does it matter if they formally ask him to waive his NTC? #semantics

Having Bieksa on your team automatically makes you worse so... there's that.

Bieksa for Fasth and then the Canucks trade Lack.

That would make both teams worse.

Honestly, the Oilers could use him. He'd be top 2

I've never been a fan of his as he's one of those pretend tough guys that talks a lot of trash but only drops the gloves with guys that are smaller than him or aren't fighters. That said there was a time where he was a solid top 4 defenseman on any team. However he looked literally spent against the Flames in the playoffs. He looked slow, was a turnover machine, and the pairing of him and Sbisa were hemmed in and exploited by the Flames for most of that series. I would have to seriously question the pro scouting of any team that's willing to give up any assets for him as he looks like a guy that is knocking on the door of retirement.

To clarify. Canucks have not asked Bieksa to waive his NTC, but there is plenty of interest in the Canucks' Dman.

Remember when Don Cherry thought he should be in the discussion for the Norris?

Those were fun times.

Cherry (and Burke) both fell in love with him when he beat up Fedor Federov at a bar in Winnipeg when they were both on the Moose
