I think they stay in the division for the 1st 2 rounds.

In the First Round, the division winner with the best record in each conference will be matched against the wild-card team with the lesser record; the wild card team with the better record will play the other division winner.
The teams finishing second and third in each division will meet in the First Round within the bracket headed by their respective division winners. First-round winners within each bracket play one another in the Second Round to determine the four participants in the Conference Finals.

We're going to really miss him if the Monahan line is shut down in any of the last three games and we have no one else that can generate any offence.
I think this is a huge mistake. Secondary scoring has been a massive problem for this team up until the Oilers game. Just cause we scored some goals against the worst team in the conference (by a mile) doesn't mean it's all of the sudden fixed.

Yeah, as much as I want to see Bennett. Playing him right now is too much of a distraction IMO. He will get in if the game doesn't matter or an injury occurs. Now, if the team makes the playoffs, well, all bets are off then.

Pretty sure Hartley is qualified in making this decision.
However, I completely understand the fans wanting him in, he has more skill then a lot of players on the ice but its just not the right chance to be thinking he's completey ready for the transition.

I really think this plays into management's decision on when to start him.

Stay in the division. Whomever wins the Pacific 2nd vs. 3rd plays the Anaheim wild card winner.

If a loss is what it will take to get Bennett or Wotherspoon into the line up, then I hope we don't see them in a game this season.

If the playoffs started today, it would look like this (I think).
ANA (winner plays winner of CGY/VAN)
LAK
VAN (winner plays winner of ANA/LA)
CGY
STL (winner plays winner of NSH/CHI)
MIN
NSH (winner plays winner of STL/MIN)
CHI

No way does Burke concern himself with the possibility of 7 playoff games. Playoffs are far from clinched. We aren't the Oilers, who are happy to forego current success at essentially no cost for the dream of future glory. They are thinking of the next 3 games, full stop.

Realistically I think we ice the same lineups as we did in EDM. Maybe switch playing time around here and there.
I think the Flames will ice Bennett in one out of these last 3 games as I don't think they'll want to play him vs LA. It'll be likely WPG then.

What does Wotherspoon have to do to get in a game? I'd be beyond frustrated if I was him.

You have a mighty odd definition of 'secondary scoring' in your head there...

Correct.
Top seed in the West plays the lowest seeded wild card. 2nd highest in West plays top seeded wild card.
#2 plays #3 in each division.

What do you mean? I want to see what are offence does when the Gaudreau line is unable to put anything together. Going off of memory, the answer is absolutely nothing, but maybe the actual stats paint a different picture.

I would say most teams would struggle if their top line doesn't put anything together. Not sure why you [polak] are considering this a "Calgary only" problem.
We are 7th in the league in scoring - I'd say secondary scoring is not a huge issue.

Lack of secondary scoring has been a bit of an issue lately. Overall this season it's been fine, but right now it seems like everyone other than the top line and Wideman are ice cold.

It's not a Calgary only problem but it's a problem that we have a potential fix for, sitting in the wings and we refuse to try it because Raymond (and Colborne, but he scored so I don't expect him to be benched) is apparently bribing Hartley for playing time.

@Fan960Steinberg: Hartley says Bennett is here as "an additional option". Says he can't answer whether he'll play or not. #Flames
