Oh wow. Where to even start. I could make jokes using that one line that would have me banned from this forum forever.

In truth though, I presume some sort of blackmail.

PTOs can't be signed during the regular season. A player can sign a liability waiver and practice with the team but he has to sign a bonafide contract to play a single second.

He probably doesn't ever expect starting minutes or dollars during a contract negotiation. Not sure how W/L are calculated when coming in as a mid game sub but points in 88 (W-OT-SO) vs 73 L. Seems like a decent 2/3 option to have in an organization.

I don't know - if the Flames decide to move one of their goalies, I would guess teams most interested would be playoff bound clubs with an injury at the starting spot, or just general inconsistency. If you're the Islanders say, do you roll with Halak, or would you sleep better knowing Hiller/Ramo can come off the bench for you?

Brodeur and Bryz are stop gaps at best - either of our guys can win games for you.

Agreed with ^^

Plus, Hiller was never ever going to be moved to the Ducks, so that option wasn't removed from the table.

Anaheim Ducks @AnaheimDucks
BREAKING: Back In Bryzness! The #NHLDucks have signed goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov to a one-year contract.

Anaheim Ducks @AnaheimDucks
Bryzgalov will head to Norfolk for a conditioning assignment with the @NorfolkAdmirals (AHL).

Eric Stephens @icemancometh
Ducks sign Ilya Bryzgalov to a one-year deal worth $2.88 million, according to NHL source.

Bryzgalov is a better backup then LaBarbera and this will allow Gibson (when healthy) to develop in the AHL.

You mean the "best goalie" Sutter has ever seen?

How does Bryz get that and Brodeur only get $700,000?

Brodeur is way older, and has a contract structured that can make him a whole lot more than 700K

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Ilya Bryzgalov now carries a bigger cap hit than Fredrik Andersen, John Gibson and Jason LaBarbera combined. #NHLDucks

How does this guy keep finding work? He is so wildly inconsistent.

Kind of like Joey McDonald here... just ends up in the right spot (or Edmonton)

Bryz can be a good goalie in certain situations, and a tire fire in others. It just depends on which guy you're getting.

Where does this put Anderson? He hasn't been great recently.
