I hope Erixon gets included, the Oilers immediately appoint him to the top pairing (because, you know…Oilers), the fans realize he sucks, and they boo and throw jerseys at him. Erixon packs up his toys and goes back to Europe.
Edmonton loses, Erixon loses, Flames fans have a picnic underneath a rainbow.

This should help them get mcdavid so i guess that answers the question on how this helps the oilers.

Are we talking about Artem Anisimov? He sucks defensively. That's his biggest weakness.

I'd say this is probably a win-win trade if it goes down.
Of course, the biggest winner would be Perron...

Somewhere in Columbus, Anisimov is praying this doesn't go through.

#Oilers asst. GM Scott Howson was in #Nationwide tonight, but that's not unusual. He lives in Bexley, a suburb of Cbus. Here frequently.
Why does the Oilers Asst GM live in Ohio.

This is total speculation, but I think it would be interesting if both teams flipped their 1st round picks. Turns the tank for Mcdavid strategy on its head and actually gives these bottom feeders a reason to finish strong.

Not sure why Edmonton would ever want to do that they are the masters at tanking might as well use it to their advantage, saw someone post this quote from HF boards earlier.

"Buffalo has no idea what they're up against. Gutted their entire team for draft picks all for the chance to draft Mcdavid. The masters will show them how it's done."

I hear ya. But after listening to the oilers fans vent on sports talk radio I think a flip of picks could at least demonstrate to their fanbase that they aren't intentionally trying to be a failure.

I had a dream last night that Edmonton finished 1 point above Buffalo in the tank race, but were happy to get Eichel. Carolina won the lottery and got McDavid, Buffalo picked Eichel and the Oilers picked Kylington over Hanifin.
Hockey gods, please make this happen.

Do you think he's in a crate right now trying to "smuggle" his way back to Russia? Seriously though I liked Anisimov back from his days with the Rangers, it's a shame his career might come to a screeching halt. The good news is there is only one year left on his contract, so in a year he can free himself from such tyrannical rule.
Anisimov went to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl during the lockout after the plane crash tragedy as well. I'll always have a bit of appreciation for the players that went their during the half-year lockout (Hagman did as well if I remember correctly)..

This benefits Columbus. Would definitely help out with the loss of Nathan Horton.

Perron is better than Anisimov but when you trade a winger for a center straight up it makes sense that you're going to give up the better player.
Also the Oilers desperation to make a move is leverage against them, so Perron for Anisimov is probably the best they're going to do.
Imagine they wouldn't have to be in this spot if they hadn't traded Gagner straight up for going-to-be-bought-out Purcell.
Perron and Gagner for Anisimov and Purcell. Hilarious.

This doesn't make sense.
Perron is a far better player than Anisimov. Perron is an unquestionable top 6 winger. Anisimov is not a 2nd line centre.
Just stupid.
