It's awesome that the Flames just flat out work hard. There's no one too important and they all give it 100%
After the oilers game, Hall was seen wearing this while a few others worked out...

Over half the team was at Grat's Fur Babies event yesterday (supporting the AARCS) and then today the team is playing their Townsend Tigers game.

#Flames lost wheelchair hockey game to Townsend Tigers for 34th straight year, but critics argue Tigers can't maintain shooting percentage.
Team off the ice, team on the ice.

That made me laugh in light of all the conversation about advanced stats today.

The Townsend Tigers would epically destroy the Edmonton Oilers.

They'll also have to be super lightweight, so that the Tier 1.5 fans (second bowl, further from ice) have a harder time tossing them down to the ice.

Just listened to the whole show, the fans call ins were priceless. They seem to be completely opposite of Edmonton fans (well before this year anyway, the enthusiasm is dying.) in the sense that Leafs fans are horribly pessimistic. They don't seem to have any faith in their team.
Some of the call in tips for improvement;
1. Strip Dion
2. Get two really good superstars. (easy enough)
3. One blamed the city and it's history. Equated it to genetics being involved in male pattern baldness.

Vets and the captain especially, who buys in to what the coach is selling completely and expects the team to do the same.
Not to rag on the guy, but it's a welcome change from his predecessor.

Doubt it.
I could see Hall racking up an 8pt night against those kids and the Oilers names him the 1st, 2nd and 3rd star!
This is a game they could actually win!

Yeah, the guy who was always showed up to camp in the best shape of any player on the team would not have stood for a little bike ride after the game and a hard practice. It's not like he worked out in the summer in his free time or anything.

I know that fans can be fickle, but it irks me to read posts that villify Iginla.
Nothing surprises me, though. This is probably the same group of fans that had him "passing the torch" to Rene freaking Bourque.

I don't like all of this revisionist history about Iggy. He was one of the top 10 players in the world for around 9 season here, and he still prepares harder than the majority of players in the league. The only mistake in his time here is GMs and Coaches allowing him to have too much sway over their decisions.
There was a lack of competition, a lack of versatility, and complacency through the line up. But I think the first two caused the third, and you can't possibly blame the first two on a player.

While all of this was true, we definitely needed Iginla gone to move on as a team.

Do you guys really feel the need to trash iginla rather than just be happy with the team? He was a great player and captain for this team for a long time and the flames have another great captain and player in giordano today.
Very glad to see the whole team has continued to embrace this identity ...meanwhile Edmonton is an embarrassment to professional sports.

There's a select group of posters here who've always bashed Iginla, even when he was here. Guys like Tinordi are just doing what they've done all along. Some things never change.

I was definitely one of the ones that felt it was time for him to go, even before he did. However, even as someone who really felt it was time to move on, I'm amazed (and in a way appalled) by the magnitude of the culture change in this team since he left. It's way beyond any reasonable expectation.
It is telling. I don't think anyone is suggesting Iginla did it on purpose, but when the Alpha Dog isn't buying in completely, that trickles down, and I think there's some indication that that was happening. It was pretty much an overnight change.
Loved his time here, greatest Flame ever, but sometimes players become bigger than the franchise and cast a cloud over the team. Best intentions or not.
