If the cat is just going to be neglected then giving it up is probably okay. But I don't understand sliver how you make the same mistake the 2nd and 3rd time. To me that borders on animal abuse. If you know you don;t want to make the whole life commitment then you shouldnt get that cure little kiiten.
I don't think it's animal abuse. I've always found good homes.
The problem is I've just been unlucky with pets. Sometimes cats grow up to be pretty cool. Mine always seem to be duds after the kitten phase.
My kids are bugging me a lot to get a pet, though. We have a fish, but nobody in the family really likes it. Maybe fourth time's a charm with cats.
Why would you get two more cats after you realized you aren't a cat person? That's just mental. It's also cruel to the cats.
Get your cats spayed and neutered people, so their kittens don't end up with sliver because he decides to give it another go.

My thoughts are people should be more prepared before getting a pet and realize that it should be a life commitment (their life and yours). Secondly they should rethink that first point before doing it a second and third time.
Holy $#@#

I like good cats. Like I said, I've just had duds. Well the last one was okay, but after we had our first kid he kind of got ignored for a while and it just sort of broke the owner/pet bond irreparably. I think it's very nice to find a good home for unwanted animals. It's cruel to keep a pet you don't want, thus denying them of a loving home.
A cat that is sick and can't have a proper quality of life, should be put down. If you don't have a BBQ and want one, you don't get to trade your cat for it. If he/she has cancer, you likely put them down. If they aren't as cute as they were when they were a kitten, sorry, you have to keep the cat.

How on god's green earth is it better to keep a pet you don't want when a better, more loving home is available that wants the cat? I don't understand your logic.
If you think this is bad, you should see how many parrots get abandoned at sexual maturity. Last stat I saw was ~75%.
At least most people tough out owning a cat.
EDIT: If you're dead set on getting another cat, and want to more or less guarantee that it will be uh, "cool", get a Ragdoll. They're 100% always hella chill.

The logic is if you think there's a chance you won't like a pet down the line you DON'T get a pet.

Because you shouldn't be able to give a cat up because they aren't cute anymore. Don't get pets of you're that stupid, seriously. You shouldn't own an earthworm, sliver.
