I don't think you were watching the flames game then.
It's not just this game, either. When he has time and space he looks dynamic. Unfortunately, those are rare looks so far in his first three games. Lot of plays dying on his stick, lost battles. And defensively ...
Not sure how much time you give him but it seems like he could benefit from time in the AHL.

Not the way Adironack are playing at the moment he couldn't.

Meh. They won one game against a team they can beat, and lost 2 games against teams they should lose to. They're going to be bad this year and lose a lot of games, no sense in getting too upset with games like tonight's.

The fact Hiller kept it somewhat respectable was amazing. I am not a Hiller fan, nor hater. Ramo would of lost this game by the same score.
I take comfort saying goaltending is not an issue! Big plus! Goalies have been stellar.
Setoguchi and Engelland! Opening minute of the game was hilarious. Kinda feel sorry for setoguchi. He is the whipping boy, and that just made it so easy to hate him. I don't think he belongs on this team, but seriously, it was a fluke how things happened. It looked awful. I would give him 20 games before judging. Yet a couple more games like this, it wont take 20!
We were outmatched tonight. I also believe the line combos play a part in this. I also believe ST Louis is just a better team.
As for Gaudreau? Love the kid. Belongs on the big team. Yet question whether a year in the minors will serve him well. We are gonna suck this year, don't want him part of the suck fest.
Colborne? Amazed at his growth. Guy is totally impressing me, and has zero chemistry with Gaudreau. Colborne has looked great. Yet these two guys on the same line just don't work. Colborne has really impressed me. Using his body his size, and also his speed and when I say speed, he is impressing me. He is a young kid doing it right! I think he should be a winger but he is impressing me none the less. Last year I hated how slow he looked. First couple of steps. He looks good!
I have been drinking though. Think I will for most of the season. I will still enjoy it though!

Blues might be the best team in the NHL and were pumped for their opener...no need to panic. With 20% odds AT BEST I wouldn't get too excited for McDavid no matter how bad the team is. And have you seen Florida play?
Feels like the team needs to use gaudreau more effectively. More minutes so he doesn't lose a feel for the puck. Not saying he needs to be given minutes without merit. I figure he showed that when the offense is allowed to run through him he produces.
Plus need to start looking for him on the breakout. It's frustrating to watch him wide open with speed moving through the neutral zone and other guys just look him off and dump it.
I strongly disagree with suggestions that he should be sent down. If anything, guys need to be brought up to join him.

I agree that he hasn't looked great so far, but he'd already adjusted to talent that was somewhere between AHL and NHL quality by the end of the preseason, so I'm not sure that the AHL would be all that useful for him. He just needs a few more games until he adjusts to the NHL level. Also, don't forget that he's been recovering from the flu for the past week.

He has missed a lot of passes (leading to icings) which is why I suspect some are looking the other way. He's a long term piece and I'm fine with him developing the right way. He's got zero points.. its not like he's tearing it up and they are messing with him.

He also seems to be missing his usual jump which makes me think he's not completely over the flu. Most of the team looks sluggish, apart from Raymond and Brodie. This is a pretty brutal road trip for a sick squad, right at the start of the season.
