I would think about it, but that's only because I think Dal Colle will be a great player.
I don't think I would though, just because I think Gaudreau will make this team a hell of a lot more fun to watch in the coming years.

Of the players ranked ahead of him, there are about 5 that I MIGHT trade JG for.
Some we already have good prospects at the positions, but mostly I just want to see what JG can do and think trading him would be a huge mistake.

At this point I think I want to watch Johnny's career unfold in a Flames Jersey for a very long time. So no, I cannot say that I would. Its not every day you draft a kid into your organization in the fourth round that has the amount of star potential that Johnny has.
It'd be nice to see the Flames actually reap the rewards of the seed they sowed.

Tough one. I do like Dal Colle a lot, but at this point I feel Gaudreau is a good horse to bet on as well.
An interesting one there is Nick Ritchie (#35), who was rumoured to be a target for us had Bennett not been available.

Yes, and quite easily. I hope I'm wrong about Gaudreau but I don't have quite the high expectations as others here.

No idea how he is considered a prospect. He would have spent the year in the ECHL if he was with Calgary considering how Ortio played. Olivier Roy had similar numbers to him and he's not even getting a contract from anyone this year.

Nope.
I think Johnny is going to be a very special NHL player.

I wouldn't trade Jonny Gaudreau for Teuvo Tervainen either, and look at how high TT was ranked.

Trade the most talented prospect since Jarome or Fleury? Bad plan. If Gaudreau can find a way to put on enough mass to avoid injury he can be a franchise player, he has the talent and work ethic.

Kind of surprised to see Tanner Pearson on there, played a big role in 24 playoff games this past spring. Doesn't seem like much of a prospect anymore, but I guess he still fits the criteria.
Gaudreau seemed ranked fairly low, but that's ok. He'll prove them wrong.

Brossoit only received one vote for 56th best prospect if you look how the points are awarded.

Maybe an Oilers homer in the group of six that made these rankings, or a scout that had a hard on for Brossoit.
Might be a Calgary scout in that group based on the amount of Calgary prospects getting votes. That would explain Jankowski getting a 60th place vote.
|
According to the link formulate posted earlier, it was two different scouts.
It would appear that "Scout A" has a love of all things Edmonton. He's the only one who had 4 Oilers on his list. In addition to Brossoit, he has Griffin Reinhart 3rd overall, and some other Oil Kings on his list. I'd guess he's an Edmonton-based WHL scout, possibly employed by the Oilers.
"Scout C" was just obviously drunk when he filled out his list. Draisaitl ahead of Reinhart and Bennett, and Ekblad at 18. Putting Jankowski at #60 looks perfectly logical compared to some of his list.

The one scout that had Jankowski 60th didn't have Poirier or Gillies on his list and had Gaudreau at 46th. I think the amount of Flames prospects receiving votes is more of an indication of an improving prospect pool than anything.

I didn't see the links to the selections.
Scout A could be WHL, and possibly an Oilers guy. He ranks Gaudreau far higher than the other scouts at 18. The other scouts have Johnny way down their lists. He definitely has a thing for Defensemen. His D are higher and has the most out of all the scouts.
Scout C didn't pick a D man until 16. His first one is Christian Folin....... Undrafted D-man who is 23 years old is the best D prospect in the NHL?

Gaudreau has higher upside but Dal Colle seems like less risk. Definitely would look at the deal.

Meh, Flames prospects underrated as per usual. Since when did Reinhart have a noticeable gap on Bennett? If I do recall some major scouts including CSS had Bennett ranked ahead of Reinhart.
In reality Gaudreau is top 5. But "his size", blah blah blah...
That Granlund has been ranked by some after Gaudreau and Bennett for calgary prospects, that's a good indication of where he should be. Somewhere in the 30-40 range.
