I never did see Braveheart. For a while I thought I was the only person that didn't but I feel a little better now.

Well it's not the Sixth Sense, but the story has a "lesson" or a realization ... and since I know what it is, I kinda just didn't watch it.

I'll add every Woody Allen movie. I won't watch them because the guy's a pig.

Not that I want to get into this, but would you watch The Pianist, Chinatown, or Rosemary's Baby? If so you're supporting Roman Polanski who also has been accused of statutory rape.
An artist's personal life should remain personal. History is rife with great artists who had questionable personal lives. As long as they don't use their art as a vehicle for horrible personal agendas, or IMO are dangerous criminal offenders, they should be left to create without judgement on who they are as people.
I won't get into the allegations of Woody Allen sexually abusing Dylan Farrow, but we'll just say that there are questions on both sides of the dispute, and nothing proven in court or any convictions. Let's just leave it at that.

Polanski should be in jail as well. They're both sickos.

I haven't watched Pulp Fiction the whole way through yet. 20 minutes in and I'm bored af. Always have flipped to something else. Yet people rave and rave. I like Tarantino's newer films, names Inglorious and Django but never have gotten around to sitting through that whole film.
I have no intention of ever watching Gone With the Wind. Probably why it's still on everybody's list here as well.

Lawrence of Arabia (need to set aside the time to watch it)
North by Northwest
Going Down the Road (supposedly the crown jewel of Canadian film, but again, no time)
Creature From the Black Lagoon (I love the old Universal monster movies, but can never come across this one for some reason)
Life of Brian (this looks like a movie I'd LOVE, but I've been scarred for life on Monty Python)

Ok, you've piqued my interest. Care to explain?

I have an older sister who discovered Monty Python when we were teenagers, and she watched/quoted The Holy Grail and many, many other MP sketches to the point where I knew them backwards-and-forwards by the time I actually saw them myself. This unfortunately has made me run in terror ever since; almost 30 years later and I *still* can't enjoy Monty Python.

^^^ This makes me incredibly sad. Don't give up on Python. Even after the popular sketches, there are so, so, so many great sketches and parts of their films. Brilliant comedians.

it's strange because I love Terry Gilliam's stuff and I'm a huge John Cleese fan, but when the whole troupe is assembled I just want to lie on the floor in the fetal position and scream. Think I'll slap my sister next time I see her...

Figured I would bump this thread to let everyone know that I watched 'The Godfather' for the first time on Netflix. It was good! Most people probably can't even remember the first time watching that movie, but my heart was racing at the scene with Michael in the restaurant, wondering what was going to happen.
Felt it lagged a little in the middle with Michael in Sicily and it was a bit hard to keep track of how much time had passed, particularly towards the end. But still highly enjoyable.

I went through an AFI kick a number of years ago, so I crossed off a fair number of well regarded films. Still lots to see though. If I picked the five I would most like to watch that I just haven't gotten to, it would be:
Chinatown, The Maltese Falcon, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, A Streetcar Named Desire, and Rear Window.
After watching those, I would then go watch the first 8 seasons of The Simpsons and see how many more bits and reference suddenly make a lot more sense to me.
EDIT: The second AFI list turns 8 this summer. If they do an update again in 2017, I wonder what recent movies might make the list, if any?

The Godfather Part II is also brilliant.
Part III, unfortunately, not so much.

You can't even watch a tiny wafer thin sketch?
I've made it a point these last few years to watch a lot of classics but here are some that haven't been mentioned yet.
Dial M For Murder
Ghandi
The Man Who Fell To Earth
My Darling Clementine
Dr. Strangelove
Notables already mentioned
Gone With The Wind
Chinatown
Grapes of Wrath (I mean, who wants to see Don Cherry get confused and yell for 2 hours?)
