Hardshell is a burden to remove and store. I am yet to have the crackhead pen knife taken to my soft tri-fold.

Hardshell is great, but expensive and a pain to take on and off.

+1 for the Bakflip. I've got the HD and love it.

I have a trifecta as well. Super easy to install, looks great and works really well.

The only downside is you need to remove it if you haul a taller item that takes the entire length of the box (ie a quad).

I had a Lo-rider on my old truck and it was a complete pain in the ass to use. You need 2 people to take it off to be able to use your truck as a truck. My new one has a roll-n-lock and its way better, although much more expensive at about 1700$ installed.

just bought a extang solid fold from a guy on kijiji for $350, sure is nice to leave stuff locked in the bed of the truck. Folded up I would think you would still get bikes into the bed..... I had it open when I went camping and had the dogs in the back and some firewood, still lots of room for them.

Thanks for the link - just ordered my Lo-Roll through them.

FYI - they have a new site which is much easier to use.

I have a Retrax, it's a roll up hard shell. It's actually very easy to remove, just 4 bolts for the clamps. It's very well balanced so I can just lift the entire thing off.

Nobody's into toppers? I love those things and one flush with the roof can make a truck look pretty badass IMO.

Isn't it pretty much an SUV at that point?

Yeah, but for like 35% less money. My next truck I'm going to get a topper with a carpeted bed. And I don't want anything dirty going in the box. Not even kidding.

So maybe a station wagon is a better option at that point?

Love toppers too. I think OP was looking for a cheaper solution, but toppers are great
