I went to the linked list at the top of that link. Maybe that was a different list, now I have to count again.
Much harder, 23.

Not as ironic as telling somebody they misread something on reading they misread themselves. Did that make any sense? I have no clue at this point. Regardless, the book is not in that list.

I said HGTTG, not Goodnight Moon.

Go to this one, it was better for me...
http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/69635
It was at the top of the page, was the list I first looked at, apologies.

I started into "A Brief History of Time" and realized it was so completely over my head that I tossed it.... and I have been on page 67 of "Catch-22" for going on 4 years now, so I'll only count ones that I have finished.
Nine.
And I read Angela's Ashes in both English and French. At the same time. I'd read it in French and then in English to make sure that I understood everything.

6. I am also almost never without a book. I just prefer a different type of book than the list-makers, it seems. I've read a LOT of the current and older sci-fi/fantasy stuff.

Same. I think I counted three off that list that I have read, and all three were because I had to in school. Though there are several authors on that list from whom I've read other books.

I've read 20 books on that list. Some are on my "I'll get to them eventually" list.

*Edit* 42 (I missed The Agatha Christie because I read it under its older, less PC title). I read a lot.

There were a lot of authors that I thought belonged on the list, but where I far prefer a different book by the same author (ie. 100 years of Solitude over Love in the Time of Cholera; Ada, or Ardor over Lolita; Oryx and Crake over Handmade's Tale; Beet Queen over Love Medicine; Satanic Verses over Midnight's Children; Farewell to Arms over the Sun Also Rises. etc.)

19 - there were also a few where I had read other books by the author but not the specific one on the list.

I got 43 of them. There's some pretty good books on there that I had completely forgotten about. "The World According to Garp", "The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay", "Middlesex"....Might have to re-read these.
Oh, and Devil's Advocate: "Catch-22" is one of my all time favorite books. I've actually been contemplating getting a tattoo of the guy on the cover for a long time now. I really hope you finish it at some point.

28 for me which isn't bad. Though, I often choose what book I read next based on lists like this, so I don't consider myself particularly well-read.
For a while I was reading a book every 10 days. But I like to alternate between new fiction, classic fiction, and non-fiction. Been reading mostly business-type stuff lately.

18 for me. Really happy to see one of my favorite books on there, "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius".
