Weren't there also reports that Giroux would be the first replacement?

How can you not like Stamkos? Knows he can't give it %100 and chooses the team (both his and Team Canada) over his own personal accomplishments. Great attitude.
Hopefully St. Louis gets to go over.

That sucks, oh well. Giroux is my choice, he has been absolutely lighting it up. I could care less about Martin St. Louis, best player needs to go and the better player is Giroux.

I like St. Louis as the selection.

I filled in the blanks for you in the middle....
Reggie Dunlop
John Scott
That kid with the wicked shot from the Mighty Ducks Movie
Harvey the Hound
The Ghost of Rocket Richard
Taylor Swift
I'd say any of those are a more viable option than Taylor Hall

I get the feeling that the Olympic coaching staff would strangle Hall from all the bad habits they'd have to try and break in such a short period of time to make him useful. The Oilers stench is strong on that one.

Hockey Canada brass just landed in Sochi to hear the news about Stamkos...no timeline on replacement.

the team currently has no enforcer - I say McGrattan or possibly giordano

My gut is telling me it will be St. Louis. But I am hoping for Girouix. Either one would be decent additions though. As long as it isn't Hall.

Giroux or St. Louis should go... Definitely not taylor hall. He is a turnover machine and isn't as complete a player as giroux, St. Louis, or Neal.

Neal being the best sniper available, he makes the most sense, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was St. Louis or Giroux.

So I have Hamhuis in my hockey pool and he got injured last night. I'm pretty sure at this point Yzerman would settle for an ingrown toe nail to replace him. Gio could get the call soon. Sorry, a bit off topic but whatevs.

This sucks. Big fan of Stamkos and even though it was always a longshot, I was hoping he would be ready to go.
I would like to see the possible replacements be St. Louis, Neal or Giroux, in that order.

I'm gonna call it right now. The Tampa Bay Lightning win the Stanley Cup. Team snubbed.
St. Louis, Hedman, Bishop and now Stamkos. All resting during the Olympic break, and mad as hell about it.

McGrattan IS a pretty fast skater. Wouldn't be a bad choice at all.

Ya just noticed Hamhuis injury as well. Not saying if he will play tomorrow in Montreal or not but let's hope he doesn't. Gio would be a much better fit than Hamhuis. That could be a blessing to Canada.

What about Nathan MacKinnon? he started slow but is now one of the hottest players in the NHL.

Because despite having a crapload of talent he is a stupid hockey player. If he had brains he would have been a lock with the team, but he doesn't.

Really hoping for James Neal. We lost the best sniper playing right now, but Neal is an excellent goal scorer as well.

If it's not Stamkos then it should be his right hand man, Marty.
