I just want to see him play and hopefully not get sent down. But let's be realistic. He'll probably play 7 to 10 games and then get sent down.
I don't know. I'm just excited to see the kid play. Hopefully he pans out.

I think the keep him up. With the lineup of the flames, he plays too much, in the wrong situ's, and he has a mediocre season.

9 NHL games and back to junior.

Grigorenko was sent down after 10 last year I believe. Hard to explain that kind of thing away as a GM!

I think he plays his 9 games with the Flames to start the season then heads back to the OHL.
2014-15 will be his breakout year with the Flames.

Seems like the general consensus is 9 games then back to the OHL.
What if Sean has 3 goals 3 assists after 9 games? Does he stay on the big team or is it back to Junior after the 9 games no matter what.

If the Flames brass let Monahan play beyond his 9 games up in the NHL, it will exceed what I expect the Flames will do with Monahan.
I hope Monahan forces their hand to keep him for the season.

Good call. It's gonna be up to how he and the team are doing at the 9 game mark. Hopefully he shows he can stay with the big club early!

I figure 9 games, back to the 67s, then traded to a Memorial Cup contender.
But if he plays 82 games in the NHL, 33 points.

9 games to get a taste and back to junior where he tears it up.
There is absolutely no point in having him up for the season. We are really not going to be competitive for anything so it doesn't do us or him any favours.
It would be silly and all-too-Oileresque to even consider keeping him up full time this season.

It very well could do him a great deal of good to play at the NHL level. You get better by playing against the best. That being said, if he plays well while in the NHL, and continues to earn ice-time, you keep him here all year and let him develop at the NHL level. If he's in over his head? Shelter his minutes for 9 games so he gets a taste, and then have him report back to Ottawa.
With how the Flames handled Sven last season, I don't believe there is an appetite to force feed prospects to the NHL - but if they show the ability to improve game after game at the NHL level? It'd be poor management to send him back to Jr.
