Can't say I disagree. I've never been a huge fan of the way Malkin plays and this playoff was a perfect example of why. Disaster in his own zone, goes out of his way to avoid using his teammates as anything other than decoy's and would rather do it all himself and he's about as bad defensively as one can get.

As far as the loser comment, well I'll chalk that up to Cherry being Cherry. I still watch him but like I do when watching anyone stating an opinion, I take it with a grain of salt. Even tho I don't like him as a player, loser is a bit of a reach considering he is one of the best offensive players in the world.

That said the Cherry hate here is quite amusing, seriously almost "grab a bag of popcorn" worthy

To be a good player in Cherry's mind you have to be a visorless, good ole Canadian boy, missing a few teeth, that fights, and comes from a small town military family. And to truly honour you he will pretend he can't say your name right even though he can pronounce it perfectly, but it makes him seem like an endearing ole lug when he pretends he doesn't know how to say it right, because it fits his image that cool guys can't read good.

Cherry schtick is worn out, and he panders to the lowest common denominator.

His opinion isn't relevant. Nobody in NHL circles cares about anything he has to say. He has no influence on the NHL outside of being a cartoonish figure. Teams don't stop drafting Europeans despite Cherry denouncing them every chance he gets. The league is still trying to cut out fighting despite his drivel and fondness for goons and the days of bench clearing brawls.

His popularity is no different than Kim Kardashian's. Most people can't turn a blind eye to a trainwreck. Doesn't mean either person has anything to offer outside of being a spectacle.

Well they aren't unless you believe Eric Francis has pull with the Flames. It's like saying Craig Button's 2013 final draft rankings matter to teams going into the draft. They don't but they draw fans to TSN's website. They are paid to entertain fans nothing more as is Cherry who is relevant only as an entertainer but this is the hockey section of CP.
