I remember there was one season that Selanne was nominated for this award, but during one of his games against Calgary, he had cross checked a Flame in the back of the head or something similar, while a Flame was getting off the ice for a line change. Absolutely no call on the play, but I remember thinking it was one of the dirtiest plays in the league that year. I don't remember the media or anyone else talking about it at all.
