What other players have chosen the Oilers? that team will have a hard time attracting free agents because of their medical staff reputation and the reputation they pressure players into coming back early.

Well that explains why he can barely shoot. But a nagging shoulder injury for a couple years? How the hell did the Oilers not get that taken care of last off-season?

As much as we like to complain about our management team, we only need to look two hours to the North to see how bad things can be.

From complete front office incompetence, to a blustering idiotic Kevin Lowe to a long time terrible training and medical staff who screwed over Souray, let RNH play with a chronic injury to letting Hemsky play with medical problems long after the Oilers were eliminated from the playoffs in previous season.

They're a gong show.

Katz is completely blind if he doesn't clean house with a flame thrower during the summer.

They don't draft effectively outside of the number 1 pick for the most part, and even with the number one pick they drafted a bunch of tiny undersized weak forwards who while admittedly skilled lead the Oilers to being one of the lowest scoring teams in the league and one of the worst 5x5 teams in the history of this league.

If anyone thinks they are building something special up there, or are positioning to make the playoffs in the next couple of years, then they are blinding themselves to reality.

But its easy Captain, squeal the multiple fans of the Oilers, they just have to fix their bottom 6, get some more depth on the blueline and get better goaltending.

Well sunshine, the Captain responds. Fixing the bottom 6 is not easy since its the glue to your team, adding good depth defensemen with chemistry can take years. And without Dubnyk, the Oilers maybe have 8 wins this year because outside of the occasional bad goal the guy has been above and beyond heroic this year.

The old boys employment club is incredibly destructive. The gullibility of the Oiler fans who blindly believe that something is worth waiting for up there, the terrible medical staff and a owner who is more concerned with getting a free arena then a good product on the ice are systematically damaging that franchise.

Oiler fans for all of their warts deserve better for their hard spend money.

Tambellini was a fall guy who got fired for executing Lowe's twisted vision, the right guy got fired, the wrong guy got the new job and the devil held onto his.

I've used this term before, but if I was a player that was drafted by the Oilers the first thing out the door at Rexall place would be my luggage followed by me.

I don't hate the Oilers anymore, they are too pathetic to hate. Our franchise certainly has warts, but I hope that the model that we follow to fix it has nothing to do with the Lowe method of franchise destruction.

The only thing that would make things worse for the Oilers would be for them to add an image of Captain Highliner to their jerseys.

As Souray tells it, he had been hospitalized for four days for an injured hand that had become infected in 2010. A doctor told him the hand was in danger of being lost, and no one from the Oilers organization had called him. When the phone rang, it was an Edmonton reporter "telling me the team thought I was milking the injury. That lit the stick of dynamite," Souray said.

"So I shared my opinion of how I was being handled and how the organization was being handled. Right or wrong, I was out of line. I had come from first-class organizations in New Jersey and Montreal and was used to that type of professionalism. When I didn't see those things, I spoke up.
Pretty sure he hurt that hand fighting Iggy. Haha stupid Souray!

Yeah, that sounds fishy to me. You dont play through something like that long-term. How was he allowed to play at the World juniors if he was hurt?

Kinda want to laugh at the Oilers. Kinda dont actually want some kid who's finally made it to the NHL to have a long-term injury being mismanaged by a group of clowns.

My Oilers Schadenfreud only extends so far. Don't actually want to see some kid screw up his arm in the real world.

I think you could really just tell my looking at him that was in no way ready to play in the NHL right after being drafted. I suppose they rushed him into the lineup so that they could get immediate dividends from their fans, but rushing in prospects that aren't physically ready for the NHL could definitely have some undesirable long term consequences for them.

Shocking that his big broad shoulders weren't NHL ready.

I don't know if you were being sarcastic, but those are some of the biggest shoulders I've ever seen on this site. 3000 pixels wide probably.

Dude is a beanpole. How is he not terrified trying to enter offensive zones being patrolled by 6+ft 200+ pound guys?

If he had to play Boston regularly I'd think a guy like Chara would slaughter him. He'd have RNH's head on his stick as a warning to other small children.

I think his head is as big as his shoulders! I think some of the ringette players might give him a run for the money.

Hasn't he had shoulder issues dating back to the WHL?
