On the fence about this for the Rangers.

They needed another creator on offense or a puck mover on defense. A guy with 0 goals does not fix their goal scoring issues.

However with the absence of Prust, Dubinsky, and Rupp they are struggling to find that tough, gritty, hard to play against identity they had from last year and Clowe fills that role.

Opens up space for the Sharks to take another run at Jackman like last trade deadline day...
Or maybe can convince the Flyers that Jackman is a poor man's Clowe for half the price.

isn't the third conditional that turns to a 2nd rounder if he resigns?

The more I look at it, Tanguay would have been a good fit in New York.

Look for #Rangers to dump some $ before 3pm. The plan is 2 extend Clowe at some pt and parameters r understood for a new deal. #TradeTracker

Too many snipers, not enough playmakers? I've kind of thought the same thing.

What's the big deal about Clowe? He has 0 goals in 28 games this year.

Man, those are alot of quality draft picks for an effective physical winger that hasn't scored yet.

I can see San Jose falling fast in their play in the next couple of years, so those picks could be useful.

I wonder if the Rangers deal Gaborik before the deadline.

To Montreal, maybe?

agreed.... SJ did pretty well for themselves here. Clowe is like Jason Wiemer this year.

My guess is that they trade him in the summer.

nice deal for the Sharks. I don't get the Clowe hype at all. Although I have to admit that

Nash - Richards - Gaborik
Hagelin/Clowe - Stepan - Callahan

looks good on paper.

Kinda like how the Flames top 6 looked good on paper?

Are those still the lines in NY? Have not watched many rangers games recently but Stepan has been on fire points wise. Figured Stepan was playing with at least one of the big boys.

They were fine on the ice too. Perhaps you mean how our goaltending looked on paper?

Makes sense, but Tang's recent play and 4 more years at 4.5 mil must have other GMs reeling

not sure, I haven't watched the Rags recently. But I guess Tortorella is mixing it up every once in a while between Nash, Richards, Gaborik, Stepan, Callahan and Hagelin ... one of their problems has been that outside of these top 6 guys, no one has been producing. Hagelin is 6th in team scoring with 18 points, their next forward is Pyatt with 6 points, Miller has 4 and Kreider has 3 ... I doubt that Clowe will fix this, but their bottom 6 has been no help at all.

IIRC I heard on one of the many channels yesterday that gaborik has been relegated to 4th line duty as of late....he really is not a Tortorella kind of guy so it shoudnt be a huge surprise he is struggling, but good lord that is quite the fall from grace if so.
