It made sense this season to sign Jackman over TKO - Jackman is the better guy at dropping the gloves and was a bigger body for that physical presence on a very small Calgary Flames team.
With the signing of McGrattan, TKO would now have probably fit better on this team over Jackman. However, I am curious to see how Jackman responds in his next game. I predict he will be buzzing quite a bit.
Are you crazy? Jackman is a slow punching bag that gets hit hard consistently, he can't skate, shoot or fight.
If there was interest for Jackman at the deadline last year, he should of pulled the trigger and picked up an extra pick, and then re-signed TKO for cheap.
Both Jackman and TKO bring the same thing and the Flames could have been ahead with an extra pick.
Who says anyone was willing to pay for him? Picking up someone for free and giving up assets to acquire them, are too totally seperate things. In this case, TK sat for months without a job. Hardly a sign of strong demand.
Just curious, but has it ever been reported that Kostopulous even wanted to re-sign in Calgary?
Perhaps he had no interest staying here.
Never say never but I highly doubt anyone would turn down a one way or even two way contract for a PTO with an AHL club. Of course, maybe he assumed he would get another contract offer somewhere else. Either way it doesn't matter, TK is a good team guy but he would not have made much of a difference in Calgary this season. Good for him to get a chance with the Pens though.
The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
Is he going to pull of a Nabokov or actually play for the Devils.
That is a rather stupid question.
"Hmm. Would I rather play in the NHL for the team that went to the Stanley Cup Finals last year, or would I rather not play hockey or collect a paycheque?"

Maybe he signed with the Penguins because of other reasons such as family, future teammates etc? Maybe he wanted to pack it up for the season but the Penguins persuaded him or maybe he just doesn't like New jersey?
I know he will most likely play but how stupid to just assume and act like a know it all.

I doubt it. If he had cleared there was a chance that he would have been sent down. Now he knows he is on an NHL roster unless he goes back on waivers.

Would have been cool to re-sign Kostopolous instead of Jackman... rumours swirling last trade deadline Feaster was taking calls for Jackman and teams like Vancouver could have offered upwards of a 2nd round pick.
Ah well! Great for TKO... nice to see there's multiple teams out there wanting him.

He was, in fact, waived specifically to be assigned to Wilkes-Barre.
Kostopoulous was ridiculous tipping shots in practice. Didn't seem to translate during games but I remember seeing him always being able to tip shots perfectly into the net regardless of how high/low the shot was on either side of his body.

LOL - I never meant he is a good fighter, simply that he is BETTER than TKO at fighting.
I was simply pointing out that last year, Flames decided to move on from TKO and keep Jackman (not talking about the deadline signing - they could probably have traded Jackman in the off-season for something cheap).
What I was talking about was just based on the roster, the Flames decided that they needed the extra toughness in Jackman vs TKO - that is NOT to say that Jackman is tough and so on.
Now that they have McGrattan, TKO would have been a much more needed player over that of Jackman, as now McGrattan makes Jackman's fighting ability (or lack thereof) obsolete.
It is funny that I just got called out on for saying Jackman is a good fighter, when I keep saying this team needs and enforcer, and Jackman is not a deterrent!! lol
