Not sure why it took TKO this long to find a home?

Ok, so his PTO with Wilkes-Barre expired. Glad he played well enough to stick around.

The market is pretty soft for veteran 4th line players. I liked him when he was here and would have rather kept him than Jackman but Mr. Intellectual viewed things differently and signed Jackman for 2 more years.

He's been with Wilkes-Barre all season. But his PTO expired, so the team had to either sign him or cut him loose. It is interesting though that it is an NHL deal and not an AHL one. I'd take that as a sign they think he might be able to help in Pittsburgh at some point.

TKO will always hold a special place in my heart for this:

and for showing it wasn't a fluke by knocking him down on the rematch:

Good luck Tom.

He is better than Jackman and can PK. Should have kept him instead.

I said a while back that the Flames needed this guy he played hard and that Jackman should of been the guy we dumped. The Pens need a some grit with all that talent and TKO will do a fine job when he cracks that line up.

Jackman stole a lot of people's hearts when he put up 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points.

I really liked Jamal Mayers, TKO, and obviously Prust.

It would've been nice to have a 4th line of TKO - Prust/Mayers - McGrattan.

I actually wonder why Tom wasn't picked up by the Oilers. Wouldn't have cost them a pick, can PK, does drop them (though often loses), but is one heck of a competitor. I can't ever really remember him taking a shift off. He had a motor.

Really great to see him being picked up, even if he does end up in the AHL. I didn't think too much of him before the Flames acquired him, but boy did he have compete in him. I also liked the fact he barked at the fan who through the jersey on the ice.

we should have had him at this contract and Jackman should be gone. I prefered TKO over Jackman.

I could see TKO getting called up and being a decent player for the pens (decent by his standards, good 3rd-4th line energy guy)

Have to agree that both TKO and Prust are probably better options than Jackman. Especially because TKO was known as the prankster and probably a good locker room guy. Oh well, good luck to Tom.

It made sense this season to sign Jackman over TKO - Jackman is the better guy at dropping the gloves and was a bigger body for that physical presence on a very small Calgary Flames team.

With the signing of McGrattan, TKO would now have probably fit better on this team over Jackman. However, I am curious to see how Jackman responds in his next game. I predict he will be buzzing quite a bit.

Feaster dropped the ball on this one.

If there was interest for Jackman at the deadline last year, he should of pulled the trigger and picked up an extra pick, and then re-signed TKO for cheap.

Both Jackman and TKO bring the same thing and the Flames could have been ahead with an extra pick.

No, if you are going to waste a spot on a fighter, he better be a good fighter. Jackman is not a good fighter. It doesn't make your team any bigger when the biggest guy you have constantly gets his butt kicked, it's demoralizing. You are better off having a smaller guy with a bigger fight.

And besides, Jackman types are a dime a dozen. They could have got a pick for him last year and then signed a guy like Winchester this year. Again, you gain a pick. This is what asset management is all about.
