Pretty sure that is RNH at the table. I can tell by the ridiculous comb over. That is eberle on the left in the purple top.

In a desperate attempt to avoid a pissing match, the more I look at that picture the more amazing it is.
While Schultz is not technically a NHLer yet the fact RNH has not been marketed to be at the store and being mobbed is ridiculous.
Even if two random NBA ers were here they would get a better turnout than that and we don't have a team.

You guys GROSSLY over-estimate how many people stuff like this brings out.
When Nigel Dawes was at the bell store for a signing there was a line of maybe 10 people at the beginning and then the line was gone and you'd have people walk up every now and then. Even Cammie (first stint here) wasn't "crazy" by any strech of the imagination. A steady line of 15ish people... In Calgary and at a mall as well (so a lot more passer-bys)
What do you expect in Oklahoma? Jeeze.

Are they still charging the Oilers rates of $25 per autograph?

OKC is Thunder town. They have an elite NBA franchise with the 2nd best player in the world who is committed, young, and likable. While the Barons are getting a nice glimpse of some of the NHL's top talent it is still a 2nd tier league.
I don't think OKC is that big of a city and I am too lazy to google it. But to me it is like the Roughnecks in Calgary. I don't care if they have the greatest Lacrosse player in the history of the game I just have no interest in that league/sport. I have a feeling that is what OKC sports fans feel like.

They had the young guys show up to West Edmonton Mall to sign autographs and yeah, they charged like $20 or $25 per autograph.

I find that sometimes even the best promotional people can't see the forest for the trees. There were several instances when the Flames were having trouble filling the building during that 7 year drought that they refused large groups of people (100-200 head count) because those people were not prepared to buy lower bowl tickets. The upper loges were empty but if you weren't prepared to buy tickets outside of that (too much money or whatever) they didn't want you there. The stand they took was literally one of we'd rather make no money off of you folks than some money. Perhaps these people now head up the union?
There is no reason if the Barons were marketed and priced properly that they should only be drawing 3000 a night. If you have to give tickets away or sell them on the cheap (4 tickets for 20 bucks or something) and only sell beer, pop and pretzels then do so. A good percentage of those people going on free tickets will get the bug and start buying tickets, jerseys etc.
Btw the metroplex area which includes a handful of counties for Oklahoma city is 1.3 million.

I want to ask those non-basketball fans a question. Lets say there was a NBA lockout where the Calgary Crush got to bring in John Wall (2010 1st overall), Kyrie Irving (2011 1st overall) and Serge Ibaka (2008 late 1st rounder who is an emerging player) and for the heck of it a few other players who had a shot at the league in a year or 2. Would that raise your interest in the team for at least the short-term? Even when the Flames were playing at the same time (and let's say contender's like the Thunder).
I know I would go but listening to the FAN there is really no basketball love at all in fact when Stienberg, Walker, or Boomer talk about the NBA it is always in a mocking fashion.

It was a hockey card show signing and it wasn't the players who charged, it was whoever was running the show.
The players were pretty upset about it and felt like they were blindsided.

At the risk of derailing the thread, I was at the OU/Notre Dame game this past weekend and I was wondering why the crowd was cheering so loud whenever Bell came in (I also found it odd that they would change QBs whenever they got into the red zone).
Jones looked decent from what I saw in the game. Thought that the OU O-line and D-line were overmatched and that's why they lost. Had never seen an OU game before Saturday though.

that is a similar attitude that i think many people in OKC have about the Oilers young guns I don't think it is much a surprise to people these guys are not bringing any fans to the game.
