We were married at Banff Springs Hotel last summer and the one recommendation I would make is to be careful on the various rental/wedding companies in Canmore (for chairs, flowers, linens etc). They are considerably more expensive than the Calgary ones and it seems to be worth renting or purchasing everything in calgary and having it sent out to your venue in Canmore or Banff.

btw, I have attended a Silvertip wedding and it was amazing.

here is a link to some photos the general manager sent us from a recent wedding at stewart creek.

Will you have time to squeeze in 18 holes before the wedding starts? I hear Stewart Creek is a great course.

I'd be more concerned about getting in to one hole after the wedding...

I'm pretty sure the day of your wedding you're going to get laid.

i won't have time for it. in late september they start tee times relatively late in the morning due to frost concerns. i might try to get out there earlier to take advantage of my special discount. everything i have heard is it is the best course in canmore.

My wife shot a reception at Murietta's in Canmore this winter, it was a great venue for a smaller ( <100 guests ) wedding.

yea, my wife and I came to the same conclusion, and even bigger was that we didn't want to hang out with our families right after getting married (or be on vacation with them during the week before getting married). sure our parents would have loved going on a destination wedding (my dad pushed for it a bit) but it would have been a weird honeymoon. we wanted it to be just the two of us afterwards, and it does put people in an akward position with vacation days and money etc.

Stayed there for a weekend a few years ago during the winter season. It was beautiful!! Real quiet too. Good place to go if you want to relax.

Probably better off just scrapping the wedding and going golfing.

  1. Calgary Golf and Country Club
  2. Lougheed House
  3. Murietta's in Canmore
  4. Silvertip in Canmore
  5. Canmore Country Club

Anyone have any suggestions at all, $$$$ or cheap checking out anything (well Banff Springs out of price range....)

Thank you!
Hey Kavy,

First of all congratulations on your engagement! I've edited many weddings and I have seen many beautiful ceremonies, both in the day and the night surrounded by candles, and on top of mountains. If you would like some examples in a price range PM me and I'll do some digging for you through some wedding planner contacts.

Just wanted to say that you can book a 5 nite carribean cruise leaving Galveston Tx in the spring of 2013 for under $400 per person. And trust me, on a 3000+ passenger ship if you don't want to see someone, you don't have to. Lots of things going on that will keep everybody entertained and give you some personal space and privacy. Guaranteed you and your guests will have more fun at your wedding and you on your honeymoon by going on a cruise than by going anywhere else.
Went on a Carribean cruise two years ago and it was a blast. Plan on doing it again.
