The one station I notice for this abuse is BNN because I have it on in my office on the lowest volume setting and I'm not PVR fastfowarding through commercials.

Many of their commercials sound like they're at two or three times the regular programming volume.

They definitely do this for the shows on their video on demand. They've also started adding more and more commercials to those shows. I watched a 1 hour show on VOD through shaw recently where the "time bar" at the bottom said it was 1:08 long. So they put in all the regular commercials, plus another 8 minutes worth, plus didn't allow FF.

Really we should just get rid of the CRTC and let the market decide if they want to punish loud adds.

I see what you're doing there, but for what little good the CRTC actually does, the negatives greatly outweigh it.

I can deal with commercial producers being ######ed with the dynamic range compression if it means greater access to quality programming without having to jump through hoops for everything.

You think we have quality programming in Canada? The CRTC is the reason why it took two decades to get HBO in Canada and we still can't get the real thing. CRTC is where good programming goes to die!

I think that was his point. No CRTC means we are watching HBO in the 80's.

I think you are misinterpeting me. I want to get rid of the CRTC. It is terrible for the consumer.

The market can regulate loud and annoying comercials. For example because of terrible commericials i refuse to eat at japanese village or use any telus products. Rona during cfl season usually gets added as well.
