I'm typically a Sony user myself. But at this point money is more important that brand loyalty. Although quality is important too.
In my experience, Boxing Week always has better prices on many items. It's not like any items are going to be going up in price between now and the end of the year. BestBuy and similar stores have a lot of their product online now that you can start purchasing December 24th around 6pm, when the stores are closed. There are definitely door crashers, but I don't go to those anymore. I will be at my computer on Christmas Eve looking to purchase a new TV. I might go to stores on the 27th or so when the immediate crowds have dwindled.

The only reasons I'd buy now versus December 26-31, is if there was a specific model I wanted and they were getting low on inventory, I was giving it as a gift or I was hosting a party and wanted it for that.

The good thing about TVs is that they eventually all go down in price and $1,000 will buy your more TV in the future than $1,000 will buy you today in a TV. If you can hold off for a month, do it.

As for Sony being over priced, right now the old models are starting to be on sale, so a person can watch for some great deals, not that I'm trying to sell Sony's, other brands such as LG, Samsung, Panasonic etc. also make some fine TVs.
Its common sense that a $4000 Sony is better than a $900 Samsung. I'm comparing brands that are in the same price range. Samsung consistently put out the best TV's and usually leads the market in technology

I'm looking at the Samsung 8000 series Plasma TVs. I've heard nothing but great things about them. I wish they had something between the 51" and 59" models though.

Picked up this 55 inch LG TV today as part of a PSP replacement for an older TV.

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...a052247948en02

Pretty good reviews all over the web, and it's on sale for 899.

So far so good, High Def looks amazing, college football looks fabulous and I'm hoping hockey looks wonderful as well.

Can't beat the price for a 55 inch LCD. Didn't want to go plasma as the wife watches a lot of 4:3 programming and burnt in the vertical bars on our last plasma. Although there are pretty smoking deals everywhere on plasmas

Gotta love quoting yourself.

Anyways, the Cyber Monday sale at FS has this TV going on sale for 799!

It was a good deal at 899, now it's really good at 799!

BTW, hockey looked amazing on it last night

Not sure about the quality- but the price sure is right.
I picked this plasma up, to replace my 42" Aqous (4 years old) I love it so far, I gave up 1920x1080 for 1360x768 but I havent noticed the difference, as a lot of broadcast is still in 720p.

So far I'd give the tv a 4/5, it's only has 2 hdmi inputs and limited menus but other than that at $500 it was a steal! Sold my Aquas to my dad on the cheap so it really only cot me $250

It's almost December already so I'd say wait until Boxing day.

Also, for those who keep recommending LED over LCD, you guys know that LED is LCD right? Just a different way to light the thing.
