I wish there would be a way they could incorporate non-iMessage texts to iCloud and distribute them to my iPad. It's really the missing link in their 'everything everywhere' claim. Would it be that hard to set up an iPhone as a distribution point for all your incoming SMS's, and push them to your iPad?

Apple would rather that your SMS using friends upgraded to iPhones though.

I'll just post this here. Reading that they WANT you to replaces lower quality MP3's has me pretty excited.

as a guy who appreciates better quality sound, I'd appreciate if apple began a higher quality format. Mp3's were practical for their times, but with larger hard drives and overall memory in our digital players, compressed files at the expense of quality is unnecessary.

AAC's are better quality than MP3's at a given bitrate. A 256 kb/s AAC sounds pretty good.

Pretty cool rumour about the iPhone 5 and voice control:

Quote:
For example, a user could say "remind me to buy milk when I arrive at the market." Another example would be integration with the iOS Maps application. A user could ask: "how do I get to Staples Center?" and Assistant will use the user's current location via GPS and provide directions.
Quote:
Finally, there's Wolfram Alpha baked into Assistant. Wolfram Alpha is the equivalent of an extremely nerdy, always-right friend who knows everything. And now Assistant is that genius friend. Ask your iPhone for the GDP of Libya: it'll tell you. Ask your iPhone how many feet from the Earth Jupiter is. It'll tell you.
Voice is something that Android has done so much better than iPhone, so I'm really hoping this is true. Great for a hands-free solution while driving too (not that I'd ever use it for that because doing anything while driving except focusing on driving is very very bad... I just thought I'd point it out).

Bump bump.

Event starts in 25 minutes. Rumours seem to be swirling this morning pretty heavily.

I don't believe they're offering one. There are usually brave people that try to broadcast from within the event, but the quality is usually pretty poor. I'm watching it on TWIT (http://live.twit.tv/) and they will sometimes jump over to a pirate stream.

12:41PM Just saw that Apple's Japanese website is showing an October 14th launch date for the iPhone 4S. Guess we'll be hearing more about that guy soon!

Pretty disappointed that it's just a 4G refresh. I'll wait for the iPhone5.

My plan is up in January. What do you think the odds are that people will be done the typical rush to buy the new iPhone? Hoping that my timing is pretty good and should be able to get one without an issue.

Wow, iOS 5 available oct (edit) 12 and available all the way back to the 3GS. Thought they'd leave that little chestnut in the past.
