Doug Horner is the best of this lot. I don't trust Mar.

Which? You mean the "whites" and "non-whites" washrooms at the new Court building?

I actually think she is a good candidate. In her professional career she has done some good work and her in cabinet was fairly sound as well. In reading her policies and ideas for the province I find them to be the most appealing, for the most part. I don't agree with everything (but there aren't many candidates you find where you agree with everything they want to do), but she seems like a solid choice.
All of that being said I haven't actually bought a membership. I am thinking about it....but in all honesty I'm really busy. I know thats a terrible comment on democracy, but my laziness in this aspect might get the better of me and I might not vote.

I am so out of touch... do we have to vote in person somewhere or can I vote online?

Oh please. I know you love living in the past, but this is just garbage. Alberta is no more racist than anywhere else and anyone who claims it is just hasn't been anywhere else.

Umm, Tanzanian man of Indian decent is our mayor. But hey, they all look the same to us Albertans, right darklord?

I like her focus on education and I agree with her on many points such as the need to abolish the no-fail system in schools. She seems to have the most progressive stance on things and I value that in a candidate.

There are polling stations set up in each constituency. I don't think that there is a way to vote online as far as I can tell.

I thought I would bump this as the vote and results are later today. I had some interesting discussions with people over the past few days, and I'm changing my prediction. Its a long story...but I don't know if Redford can make the top three after hearing about it. My guess for tonight:
1. Mar
2. Morton
3. Horner
4. Redford
5. Orman
6. Griffiths
Then Mar wins October 1st.

Political membership lists are "suppose" to be only used by the party who owns them. Reality is though when people switch who they support they pull out whatever means available to them; including lists they may have acquired with a previous party. Confidentiality be damned.
It is well known Morton has one or more past Wildrose supporters on his team.
As does Redford. I've been getting her push-polls on my old cell # which was only ever on a very old Wildrose list.
Abuse of lists is extremely hard to prove; thus little or no action is ever undertaken to stop it.
I think Redford will take it on the second ballot. I have no grounds for this prediction; just a gut feeling.

I believe you are referencing this: http://www.edmontonsun.com/2011/09/1...o-do--not-much
All fingers pointed to Mar. But really it could have been any of them. Perhaps the finger pointing went to Mar because he was shown in the lead or maybe there were whispers of that being the case. Regardless of who did it, in my mind it was wrong. Then again, I'm very much "by the books" and frown upon these types of things. Thus I will never make a good politician; I hate breaking, bending, twisting rules.
What I found very odd though was Mar (on Rutherford) categorically denying his campaign had done any internal polling of members. This is a very basic measuring tool used in campaigns. If they really aren't utilizing this his campaign team is very naive.

I'm not necessarily voting Horner today, but lets get a couple of things straight about him.
1) He is not an unknown. In fact, he's probably one of the more known candidates in the race. His father was a long time high ranking, well respected conservative, and Horner is a chip off the old block. He is extremely EXTREMELY well respected by people in government and is known to be a Cabinet minister who is always well prepared, asks good, challenging questions, and capable of sophisticated analysis.
2) If he wins, it isn't because of infighting. It's because he's going to get the majority of the Edmonton vote and will have moderate candidates who did not make the second ballot go over to his campaign. If he makes the second ballot and redford does not, my bet is that she will support Horner. Vice versa as well.

Except for the father reference, the same could have been said of Stelmach. Cabinet minister qualities don't always translate into leadership qualities.

Moderates will go to the moderate who remains on the ballot. If they don't and go to the "most likely to win"; it will be seen as opportunistic. I can't see Horner/Redford supporting each other in any scenerio.
Then again, this is the PC's and principles aren't part of the equation....

The lack of interest in this race tells me that none of the above could probably win if it was an option. I haven't talked to anybody who seems to care let alone passionately supports a candidate.

So, First Lady, what's with Wild Rose's almost complete malaise the past 12 months. You guys have really fallen off the map. Too bad. I had high hopes.
