And after you get your new phone, and have it for 2 months, you won't use any apps on it - with some exceptions, although you don't seem to want games, which is I think what has had the most staying power for people I know.

I'd go with the Motorola Atrix.
Google it. Pretty sick phone. I've been enjoying it.
One of the sweetest things about Android phones are the customized widgets. The Scoremobile comes to mind. you'll never see anything like that on an Iphone.

The Atrix does look really sweet, but those of us who are not on Bell don't have that choice. Unless we want to buy an unlocked one outright.
That's why I got the Captivate because I'm with Rogers and basically it was the best they had available.
Thinking the Samsung Galaxy S II will be released on Rogers later this year and it looks like a great phone.

The Galaxy S line of phones are really good. I have a US (T-Mobile) Vibrant and love it.
Either wait for the Nexus S next month (for all carriers I hear), or grab your carrier's Galaxy S variant. The Telus Vibrant is the best of the Canadian ones IMO.

I'm told that you can start pre-ordering the Nexus S at Future Shop stores. I'd expect it to hit about April 14.

I went Android. The big reason was swype. IPhone keypads suck. The fact IPhone has no swype is more indicative of the bigger problem with IPhone Apps: they are not open source.

Stop worrying about what your phone says about you. Pretty much every cell option out there has millions of customers.....you're not fighting the system with any of them. Get over it and just get the phone that's right for you.
I've had the iPhone now for a few years, and the apps alone are worth it to me. As a phone, its just ok, but as a mobile device to do business, email, skype, banking etc....it's absolutely fantastic. Personally, I haven't come across anything that competes. Yes, the fanboys are annoying (just like the fanboys of PC's, Google etc), but at the end of the day it's a fantastic product....at least for me.

I've got an extra slightly used Galaxy S Vibrant from T-Mobile in the US. It has a better processor than the Canadian one, and is unlocked so it'll work on any of the big 3 Canadian networks. Great phone for voice quality, and great pocket computer too. It has Swype pre-installed.
I'll put it in the Buy & Sell forum soon, but if anyone is interested let me know via PM.

I just got the new HTC Desire HD from Telus. You will have to plug it in every night if your an average to heavy user. But for my first smart phone I'm having a blast. networked it today so I can browse my home PC's shared directories and stream music or videos over my WAN... so much fun and I'm just getting started. I love it. I looking forward to pulling its full potential out day by day.
They have a new flex $55 data plan if you ask for it. 1gb included data, 200 anytime minutes, eve and weekends 6pm to 7pm and 10 number you can designate as unlimited anytime local and LD calls (don't count towards you 200 anytime minutes and free LD) seemed like an ok deal.

Yea, its pretty nuts the kind of plans you can get now.
I have just a regular phone and its almost the same price to get a reasonable data plan and a much better phone... i dunno why but i wont complain.

Anyone know if Telus is getting the Incredible S?
I see Telus's website now shows the Nexus S is for sale.
I would really love to try these two phones side to side to see what they are like.

I also picked up the Desire HD. I love it so far, except the battery life. Screen is huge, responsive and very clear. I like the aluminum case, as I tend to drop things alot so Im not worried about it shattering.

I also have the Desire HD and can recommend it. If battery life is a concern, you'll want to Google for some tips and tricks to make it last longer, but for me, 10 hours battery life with 2-3 hours of screen on and a couple of calls is enough. It's been a great phone for me so far.

There sure are lots of people sharing love for the HD. I've had mine since November and I'm still impressed by it on a daily basis. Love the phone and it has worked great for me. The build quality and the UI are both very good quality. While it does generally require a nightly recharge, it's not really inconvenient and I've found that if I'm a little more conservative with my 3G and wifi usage that I'll get a good two and half days of battery life out of it. Also, the big screen is great and goes a long way in making a physical keyboard unnecessary. While I don't like taping out a long message that much on my wife's Desire, I have no problem with it on the larger screen of the HD and was happily taping out long emails to friends back home last night while out having a beer and bite to eat. Great phone.
