Once they couldnt trade him around draft, had to make this move

Fair deal imo, like blaster said, you guys and kadri setting the framework helped both sides imo

Basically the opposite of Edmontons 6x6 to everybody who batted their eyelashes at kevin lowe that messed up 2nd contracts for the league

I'd be happy with Miller at $8.

The Canucks are going nowhere until they address their defence. In their top 6 are Schenn, OEL, Poolman, Myers, and Dermott. That is abysmal.

While I don't think this is a particularly great deal, it's quite a bit less than I thought he would get.

What? What are you talking about? Being in "cap hell" has nothing to do with whether or not a team is interested in JT Miller or vice versa.

Decent deal for the Canucks. Going to be good for the first few years and a bit rougher towards the end of the contract.

Yes it does. If Miller expresses interest in being traded to a certain team that is in "cap hell" and they can't make it work, then he has to look elsewhere.

The exact same with Kadri

I am saying because of the cap, there is limited number of teams that want to pay guys like Miller and Kadri big $ long term. Miller sees that. That’s why he signs now.

I dont think cap will be that big of an issue in a few seasons

This article that came out after you guys signed kadri goes in a bit of detail, but it seems we could see a big jump by the 24/25 season

Article says cap could be $89 mil just with pre pandemic attendance and next to no other revenue growth. I would not be shocked if cap went from 83.5 to 84.5 to well over $90 mil in 2 years. Almost all long term deals now could be steals in 2 years

Flames need to lock up Weegar now. I doubt they will regret any of the long term deals in 2 years.

Even Kadri might not be too bad with that kind of jump

It's fair if anything

You are a lot harsher on things the Flames do than any other team

Miller obviously wanted to cash in on 99 points and not risk a drop off which was probably smart if him

But you said this in response to a poster who was pointing to the fact that the Canucks were in cap hell, and all for icing a fairly average lineup. That was his only point. Your responses have nothing to do with the point that Jacks was making.
