Bad news for Raider fans. Pro Bowl CB Asomugha is now a free agent after a clause in his contract was not met.

The Eagles would be ######ed not to sign him. He'd instantly turn our secondary problems around.

Besides no team is going to offer him what the Raiders were paying him so chances are the Raiders will still offer him more money than any other team for his services.

Really? That's one of your reasons? He isn't a ball hawking DB because no one throws at him. Hard to get interceptions when you don't see a pass. Jets will offer him same deal as Revis.

The not playing 16 games thing doesn't make sense either. He has missed 6 total games in 8 NFL seasons.

Well lack of interceptions was one of the reasons his contract was voided so obviously weight is put into that isn't it? He's one of the best corners in the league but he does get beat when thrown to at times. There's no guarantee he would be dominant playing in a heavy zone scheme. He's really suited for the Raider's man to man scheme and no team plays as much man coverage as the Raiders.

It's the last few seasons where he started getting the big money that he's missed games. Also that missing games is misleading as there have been lots of games he's started and not finished. Trust me I know these things.

Wow Sylvan fan was pretty venomous there. Yikes. That's his prerogative though. I recall guaranteeing the Raiders would win game number 16 against the Chiefs weeks in advance.
Edit: I just looked back and actually I don't know what he's talking about. I mentioned Don Banks predicted the Raiders would be a wild card playoff team and disagreed. I mentioned that I would be disapointed if the Raiders didn't finish ahead of the Broncos and Chiefs and I am no secret there. I mentioned at the beginning of the year that Seahawks wouldn't be good and they weren't (7-9). Said in game one that Jones would be stubborn in keeping Phillips around. Right again. Mentioned that Jake Delhomme was terrible and wouldn't help the Browns. Again that was just a few of the initial pages. If you read a lot of the NFL prognosticators you will see that even the best are wrong more than they are right as the NFL is the most difficult league in the world to handicap. Of course I was wrong on a lot of things but you could say the same for any poster in the thread that posted more than a few times. Haters gonna hate I guess.

The Jets and Raiders play man to man more than anybody, you think it might have something to do with Revis and Asomugha?

Not going to wade into this argument as I think it's silly. But, I think everyone predicted that one...

There were the talks in the offseason about the Raiders/Jets and Aso so the Jets would make some sense especially if he views winning ahead of money and he is a class act so I could see him going to a place where he could win. I could also see him staying with the team that has treated him very well and paid him more than any CB has ever made. How long is Cromarti under contract for?

I think that comment was in response to how Mangini was kind of set up to fail by his GM for providing Delhomme as his starting QB.
Sylvanfan is a Chiefs fan and I hate the Chiefs so obviously he's going to differ with my opinions. I was wrong about Cassel though and I admit that. He had a good season but to me he's a guy that is only effective when the running game is working so he's never going to be an elite guy.

I could definitely see the Jets making a big run for Aso. That would suck as I really hate the Jets but it's the reality of the NFL that you can only keep a team together for so long.

He better get inducted this year. His contribution to the game can't be measured with passing yards or interceptions but it's changed the way the game has been viewed from a fan perspective.

That's why I think they need a separate entrance category for "builders of the game", or whatever you wanna call the category for people who didn't play. Because guys like Sabel are never gonna get the votes vs. guys like Deion, Bettis, Faulk, etc. They just aren't.
