Any thoughts on Dennison for the Broncos? I think it would be a step in the right direction.

Great to see Jim Harbaugh land with a historic franchise that's in decent shape with the 49'ers. Guy is the reason I became a Colts fan with that 95 run to the AFC Championship. Guy did a great job at Stanford and will be a breath of fresh air to that 49ers team.

He's got a wealth of coaching experience.
Plus, he's from Kalispell, MT which automatically makes him awesome.
I'd like to see them stay away from "the next big thing" types this time.

I do agree that the Patriots have improved greatly over that time frame since that original game vs the Ravens.
The Patriots will be favorites in any match up, but I think the the Ravens, Steelers, and maybe even the Jets (if they have any pride) will be able to give them a good game.
|
Damn your totally right touche. I think the Ravens would be a big test Brady has owned the steelers in his career they dont worry me to much with the game in NE and same for the Jets Sanchez has a bumb shoulder and sucks in the cold. Id be more concerned with colts than either of those two personally

Really? I don't see it at all.
They have no QB, a defense that simply hasnt lived up to the 'hype", and a really iffy receiving core.

I think his experience would be very complementary to Elway's vision/personality. I also think that Tebow is the perfect QB to groom under direction from Elway because he's got so much heart (like Elway) and it's just not something you can teach. Elway needs someone to 'coach' for him because I think he would get frustrated easily-no one has more love for Denver than he does.
I am so excited for next year. Now I have to do the unthinkable and cheer for the Chiefs this weekend. (urgh).. go chiefs.

To heal the relationship between Ireland and Sparano it is being reported that Tony will get an extension form the Fins that runs through 2013. Unbelievable. Steve Ross couldn't land a big name coach. Looks like the Fins might be stuck around .500 for a few more seasons.

The thing is that the Dolphins turned this into such a fiasco, they pretty much had to give Sporano an extension or else the players would know full well that they were playing for a lame duck coach. Works out well for Sporano though...chances are he'll have two years of contract to get paid to him as opposed to one after they fire him next year.

Well I can't see much changing and imo the best thing for the organization as a whole is to make a complete change. GM and HC should be gone. Sparano just got himself almost 6 extra mill depending on when he gets fired. He is also getting more say in player personal decisions but I'm not sure it will help. Owner Steve Ross is to blame for the fiasco of the last week. He went after 3 different guys to be the next head coach without firing the current coach and without going through the Rooney rule, something the 49ers did. Not saying that played a part in it but Ross should have had his ducks in a row so he could have moved forward.
I'm interested to see who the starting QB will be for the Fins next year. Not many great free agent QBs out there this year but maybe a couple guys they could run with until the draft a franchise QB. That draft could happen this year but I'm not sure there will be one available midway through the first round. Especially with one less QB in the draft.

They play in a god awful division, the defense as a whole was just a huge let down this year but they still have pieces on there to build around. The offense is going to be ugly until the QB situation is adressed, but you do have one of the best running backs in the league along side Vernon Davis. This isn't a situation where I think you have to focus on 3-4 years down the line contending, especially in a division this week.

Get McNabb in San Francisco and a guy who knows how to actually manage a game and the Niners would have walked all over that Division this past year. Granted St.Louis will improve in the coming years as they beef up their O-line and get Bradford some weapons in the passing game. But make no mistake, Harbaugh has a lot better chance to win in San Fran than he would have in Miami. Both teams need a QB, but in SF he's not going to have to deal with a Patriot jauggernaut that's going to basically walk all over the AFC for the next 3 seasons.

That would be a good hire. Fox rode Jake freaking Delhomme to within a Jon Kasay onside kickoff short of a Super Bowl.

IMO he's a little overrated as a coach. He's good enough to keep a team near .500 but is one of the most conservative coaches in the league. He makes Sparano look like a gambler in comparison. He was particularly bad this year making some real head scratching decisions.

Brady's got 3-5 good seasons left imo. You're likely to see a drop off in his last couple years and obviously when he's gone. If Rex Ryan is as good a coach as he seems to be (media bravado aside) the Jets and Pats will likely be fighting for first in that division over the next few seasons especially if Mark Sanchez turns into a upper tier QB.

Tend to agree with you here. Marty Ball won't play well in Denver either.

Interesting to see clips of the Fins presser today.
Ross basically admitted that he met with Harbaugh but only because he was in Cali for other business and because he was there for other business, he took Ireland along with him. He blamed the whole situation on that fact that he hasn't been through the process before and that he made a major communication error with Sparano.
Ireland said the samething, it was an error not to communicate what was going on with Sparano. They informed everyone that OC Henning has been let go and that the search is on for a new OC. Sparano wants to be more explosive next season. Ross vows to deliver a winner for the Dolphin fans. Based on twitter reports, Sparano didn't make eye contact with either Ross or Ireland for the entire 45 min. presser.

How would they know? The guy never is without his sunglasses!!
(Yes i am aware its a medical condition)
Beyond that though...what a gong show. I admire Sparano for staying with them even though Ireland (who knows better even if Ross didnt) showed zero tact in how he dealt with the situation. I guess with the looming CBA fiasco, Sparano would have a hard time finding a job so the decision to stay is likely a lot easier in this case.
Ross can want to bring a winner to Miami all he likes....but the first thing he needs to do is get out of the damn way and stop making football decisions. He is, from what we have seen so far, starting to look like Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder. Let your football people make the football decisions.
