Conservative Majority = good! Thank F$@#
Jack Layton = Awesome
No Duceppe = Good
Stephen Dion wins, but not Ignatief = lolz

interestingly... this is the most sincere I've ever heard Ignatieff. I've ready a lot of his stuff throughout my degree and honestly the guy should just stick to academia... partisanship is just not his thing.

I think there is NO way in hell NDP would join with Liberals. NDP won a lot this time because they presented themselves as a unique alternative to Libs. No way they;re jeopardizing their support by merging with Libs

That's kind of the exact point I was making - some people can afford to donate more than others, some can't afford to donate anything and it is going to result in parties that represent wealthier Canadians having more power.

Kind of entertaining watching Ignatieff reaping what he sowed at the moment, shocking that he lost his own seat even.

I also really don't want Harper to destroy Canada. Not because I think he will, mostly because I just don't want the country destroyed. Seems legit.

You can't donate 20 dollars? Remember you get a very generous tax rebate as well. Give me a break. Put up or shut up!

I personally don't like the copyright bill, but in the grand scheme of things, it shouldn't be a big deal. You don't "need" to copy DVDs and things like that.

I agree that it is a waste, but all governments waste money on crap. It wouldn't be any different if the Liberals or NDP won.

All in all, the institutions of this country are pretty strong and no party can "destroy" the country in a matter of 4 or 5 years. If Harper sucks, he will be held accountable in the next election. In short, don't worry so much.

I'd love to voice my opinion, but this thread makes it a slightly uneasy task. Politics are sure polarizing aren't they?

Maybe, maybe not. The Bloc wasn't exactly right wing, so the change is mostly a swap in colours in the socialist world.

Layton now has to manage a caucus that is primarily driven by Quebec, and does so walking a tightrope because of the political and cultural gap. If he goes too far to Quebec, he risks losing support back to the Liberals. If he goes too far federal, he risks losing support back to the Bloc.

Layton has the hardest road ahead, imo.

I swear to god these are comments on Facebook in the last 20 minutes.

I know, just ignore them, they are morons. But seriously this is ####ing crazy. I honestly didn't know people were this stupid. Not my friends, comments on my friends pages.

I only share them because even my Liberal friends aren't so ignorant and uneducated to say such things. It isn't like we elected GWB 2.0 or anything.

The last 2 years have been very good mgmt out of the recession. The NDP would have been a disaster. All those new party members have approaching zero real life experience. Managing financial policy is hard and increasingly important. Jack is just a populist and and collects protest votes, the exact opposite of what you'd want in a governing party.

What a ridiculous reply
